Pierre deserves a starting spot on a team.

Real talk. Pierre proved that he belongs to be a everyday player. He kept the Dodgers afloat during Manny's absence. I want Pierre to be traded to a team that will use him everyday, and the Dodgers could use another starter.

There were Pierre trade rumors, i heard one to Seattle, but they all have seemingly died. If any of the outfielders struggle now, Pierre will get the chance to take their position, just watch.

Sanchez throws a no-hitter! He was just an infielder's fielding error away from a perfect game: no hits, no walks, 11K. Sweeeet!

This is the reason why the Dodgers were not the big story tonight. L.A., next to last in HR this season, had 5 TONIGHT!!! :blueeyedbaby: And that catch to end the game, what that Willie Mays incarnate? No?! Oh Yeah, that was MATT KEMP!!! :D Too bad he didn't make it on the All-Star team. :(

I'll give props to Sanchez, but let's face it, it was against the PADRES!!! They are a minor league team withe the exception of Adrian Gonzalez. And didn't come into the game with a record on 2-8?! <_< Some people just get lucky.

COngrats to him, he's shown some flashes of dominance and brilliance espically last season.

Yes, agree.

If I remember it correctly, around the start of that season, Lincecum had challenged him to a "strike-out" total contest, based on their similar results. When he came up in 06, he was late-relief, and he also looked great. But Sanchez has been inconsistent. Consistently. :)

Some of my favorite baseball reading is the small, behind-the-scenes stuff that doesn't make it into the game stories, but that the writers sometimes blog about now. If you're interested in pitching coach Dave Righetti's interview with reporters after Sanchez's no-hitter, Andrew Baggarly of the San Jose Mercury News has a nice write-up:

Mayn, you 2 are blowing this otta proportion. Many pitchers who have thrown no-hitters, and have had sucky careers, and vice versa. Mike Mussina never had a no-hitter, yet he was one of the best pitchers of his era. Johnny Vander Meer, on the other hand, threw back-to-back no hitters his 2nd year in the big leagues, and is the only pitcher to throw no-hitters back-to-back. However, he had a career record of 119 wins and 121 LOSSES!!!

Last season i though Sanchez could become one of the better pitchers atleast in the NL. So this doesn't surprise me too much. He's had not a great season. But regardless.

It's now even more pathetic because all of this woopy woop about Sanchez pitching a no-hitter on this thread, yet Mark Buehrle gets no mention for throwing A PERFECT GAME!!! Not only is a perfect game more impressive, it was against a quality team. Also, Buehrle has thrown a no-hitter 2 years ago, is a 4 time All-Star, and has great career numbers to back it up.

Pedro... I'm still not sold on him yet.

I mean at his prime, he was just outstanding, now i don't know if i can trust him. (I'm an angels fan btw)

He was awesome in his game against the Giants (his first in the NL). That was the best performance by a visiting pitcher I have seen this year (though I haven't seen all the games). He was just great.

Giants handed a crushing walk-off loss tonight. Ugh.

Cliff Lee is a machine. I think his ERA with is like .7

He had a good thing going in Cleveland he was pitching just as well, maybe a little worse there, but now he's got a good supporting cast and he can really shine.

Stats to prove it:

Lee: 5-0, 0.68 ERA, 39 K's (12-9, 2.62 ERA, 146 strikeouts overall)

So, anyone want to predict the Wild Cards (and the AL Central!)?

It looks like the other divisions are close to set. Cardinals won't be caught, Phillies also look like a lock, Dodgers should go. Yankees and probably Angels. What do you think for the Wild Cards and the AL Central?

Tigers and Twins looks like it will be a good race to the end. I don't see either team often enough to really be able to pick one. Nice that they have that 4-game series at the end of the month (@ Tigers).

I think it's Red Sox and Rockies for the Wild Cards. Hope I am wrong, but I just don't think the Giants can do it. They have a tougher schedule than the Rockies over the final month, they've struggled with their #5 starter and are now going to try Penny, and now have also been bitten by the injury bug (their 2, 3, and 4 hitters!). Giants called up their rookie, #1 catching prospect from AAA today, something that the organization has repeatedly said was not going to happen this year. Hope I am wrong, but I just don't think the Giants can do it.

My hometown team ain't in it yet. They are tied for the best record in the NL, but the Giants and Rockies still have a shot in the NL West, and the Dodgers gotta face S.F. 6 more times, and chances they are gonna tweak their pitching staff, making sure that L.A. faces either Tim Lincecum and/or Matt Cain more than once. Plus, they end the season with 3 against the Rockies. FUCK!!! :( :pinch: :x

so going into the playoffs in the NL, all the teams have been struggling this past month except for the Rockies, who the Phillies will start playing on Wednesday. I could really see anyone going to the World Series this year from the NL. its hard to say.
