So much better 😱 And exactly what I'm talking about. This is how to make the audience even more emotionally connected with part 1 especially because the 1rst movie had such a strong soundtrack + culture impact Whoever decided to put a freakin rap song into that trailer should be fired asap lol You want to sell this movie and make some money to bring the ridiclious amount of budget back in? Then do it right for christ sake. Sometimes I think Hollywood is run by idiots these days.

Gladiator isn't just "some" movie it's a beloved cult classic since almost 25 years, Ridley Scotts magnum opus of his career. It's like James Cameron would decide making Titanic 2 all of the sudden πŸ˜… (and don't tell me there is no storyline for this, there always is be it Rose journey/life or the search of the wrack or everything that was influenced by the sinking of the Titanic historically etc) Gladiator is a nearly perfect film, which splits the difference between art and entertainment without ever feeling like it’s laboring for either. The idea of a Gladiator sequel seems impossibleβ€”why mess with the best? Why risk tainting a great cinematic legacy? Those are the real questions here. Of course people are giving this part II a hard time. It's not really surprising when you really think about it imo. Except something about Ridley Scott films always lend themselves to sequelization (see also: Aliens, Blade Runner 2049), and it’s not like the Roman Empire ever lacked for drama to mine for the big screen. So I'm still here having all the high hopes for Gladiator II. Also people mocking everything and -one on socials these days.

I really wonder where he'll get the money for part 3 and 4 πŸ€” @Lilja K Kevin Costner's β€˜Horizon' to Hit VOD Next Week We all saw this coming. Kevin Costner’s 3-hour Western, β€œHorizon: An American Saga – Chapter One” will be available to watch at home as it is listed for VOD release on July 16. That’s only 19 days after its initial theatrical launch. It’s worth noting that the most recurrent complaint when it comes to this film is that it felt more like a set-up, an introduction, for the next chapter which is set for theatrical release in August. This quick home release could very well be a way for Warner Bros to try to build an audience to get them interested in the upcoming entry. The critical reception for β€˜Horizon’ hasn’t been good. However, audience scores have been a tad more generous, with a 71% on Rotten Tomatoes and 7.1/10 on IMDb. I gather it’s a little too late for the second chapter to be sent straight to Max, so this $110M gamble will continue on for Costner who is still very much planning on shooting Chapters 3 & 4 this fall in Utah.

Lucius Verus | Gladiator (2000) Lucius Verus | Gladiator II (2024) β€œI remember that day. I never forgot it. That a slave could take revenge against an emperor.” Dang I am!!! Already love every single parallel

Now I'm really curious how you would rank the 1rst Gladiator movie? @Lilja K

^You really have high hopes for Gladiator II then (I have too!!!). But none of the movies you listed is the understanding of "bigger louder faster" for me let alone that I think Gladiator 2 is capable becoming a cult classic. At least not after this 1rst trailer πŸ˜„ The "bigger louder faster" section for me is Transformers, DC, most of Marvel, Avatar 1-400, everything Tom Cruise and directors like Roland Emmerich and Jerry Bruckheimer πŸ˜„ Cult Classic is the highest possible standard any movie can reach blockbuster or not imo, then there are high profile blockbusters and finally just blockbusters. Maybe there is another spot for crappy blockbusters/bombs. However I hope Gladiator 2 can deliver one of those higher standards and isn't just some "other" blockbuster let alone a bomb because of the massive budget.

He won the oscar for TD so fair enough. Gladiator II seems from the trailer another standout for him. So maybe another oscar. Or at least another nomination. Also 69 never looked better imo 😲

@Lilja K Because I have a week off I decided to re watch THE FALL (Gillian Anderson is awesome indeed love her 2 😍) and I think I understand why Jamie was picked to replace Charlie as Christian Grey or at least what they probably had in mind with him. With better scripts of 50 Shades he may had been better. But that's why Charlie also left so those movies never had a chance from the beginning. Interesting. https://www.latimes.com/entertainment-arts/movies/story/2022-06-28/dakota-johnson-fifty-shades-talks-battle-with-e-l-james Still mourning over the different version we could have.

It looks solid but damn the footsteps from the OG Gladiator are huge. I'm not sure this 2nd attempt will have the same impact. This trailer looks more like... bigger, louder, faster with nothing really new to say? Even the emporer is a crazy nucklehead once again (maybe too much incest lol) and instead of one there a two? (more like I said lol). Also what is this modern song choice? I think the OG soundtrack (maybe kinda rewritten) would have been epic. But at least this song choice is something new πŸ˜„ I will watch it of course. Maybe my first impression is wrong. I liked that it's kinda build on Maximus story. The flashbacks made me shiver. Not sure if that is a good or a bad sign for all the new stuff. Denzel seems indeed the standout.
