^ It looks to me like the modeling in the 1980s/1990s was a lot more selective. The film/TV industry is kind of like that now, too. The power of a "movie star" is pretty depreciated. I think part of it has to do with how there are a lot of things to do other than watch movies. Also the quality of movies/TV shows seems to have greatly deteriated in the past 10-15 + years.
