  1. Thanks for the link. I like those "insider"/industry things, like the agency books. That's called "auction sniping". http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Auction_sniping Now I am a little bit embarrassed to tell you this, but I do that too when I bid on eBay. (I'm not the evil person who has been outbidding you, though. I promise.) I have found it is a much better strategy to bid very late on eBay, than to bid my maximum amount early.
  2. July 21 1985 is indeed a Sunday. The Sunday edition of The New York Times is the largest edition of the week, and includes some sections and "magazines" that do not come with the paper on any other day. (Or, at least it used to. I haven't taken The New York Times in fifteen years.) It's possible that the page you are asking about was inside a special, Sunday-only section of the Sunday paper. Otherwise, I can't think of any special meaning for "SUNDAY". ??? Do you mean The New York Times specifically, or "vintage" magazines in general? I like this site very much (you probably know it): http://www.paperpursuits.com/ . A magic phrase for the Google/Yahoo search engines seems to be "vintage fashion magazine". When I tried that just now, I turned up pages and pages of links. I thought this was a good one: A list of vintage magazine sources: http://www.trussel.com/books/magdeal.htm Also: http://www.advertisingarchives.co.uk/index.php and http://www.vidcat.com/store/manufacturers....anufacturerid=5 .
  3. I did not remember ever seeing it before, so I took a look back through all of Paulina's 96 pages and I may have missed it, but I did not see posted before.
  4. New York Magazine Model Manual Index of classic and current models. Pages for some of the supers. Pages include a brief bio, career retrospective and a picture-slideshow including covers, ads, and candids. http://nymag.com/fashion/models/
  5. New York Magazine has a Model Index, including pages for many of the supers. Cindy has a page, including a brief bio and a 91-picture slideshow including covers, ads, and candids. http://nymag.com/fashion/models/ccrawford/cindycrawford/ Some nice things in the slideshow (at least, I thought). 1987 VOGUE BR http://nymag.com/fashion/models/ccrawford/...ver_britis.html 1986 Modelcard 2002 VOGUE FR and so on.
  6. Talking about The New York Times Magazine versus The New York Times versus New York Magazine. It turns out that New York Magazine has a Model Index, including pages for many of the supers. Paulina has a page, including a brief bio, and a 31-picture slideshow including covers, ads, and candids. http://nymag.com/fashion/models/pporizkova/paulinaporizkova I thought there were some nice things in the slideshow. 7. First of all, sorry to be a bit late responding to you. My account got locked-up this weekend when I attempted to update my email address. I could log-in, but not post or PM. It was, annoying. Thanks here go to PinkCouture, who fixed my account! You ask about The New York Times (NYT) archives. 1. Try your local public library. You may be able to get access to a searchable archive of the NYT (and other newspapers) through your library's website. That's how I did the research I quoted above. Also, if you're near a State-funded university, you may be able to get access/service there as a member of the public. You won't be able to work through the university library's website, but you should be able to get service as a walk-in patron. (Call before you go, obviously. Hopefully, you can also speak with a Reference Librarian to find out what databases the university has, and which ones will be available to you.) It might even be that you'll find an "old"-style, microfilm-based archive of the NYT, right there at the library. That would provide you with a picture of every page of the newspaper, albeit of very, very low quality. The university library near me maintains one of those systems for a collection of now-out-of-print magazines. 2. The NYT has their own archive. You may be able to get something through them (and their website), though I expect it won't be for free. I don't know if they consider ads that ran in the Sunday Magazine to be "part" of their journalistic archive, but it's possible.
  8. Niki is the cover for October 2005 SHOP Magazine. On eBay (not my auction): http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...mp;Category=280
  9. Quick search of the thread and didn't see this: Over on YouTube: Citroen Xsara -- Crash Test with Claudia Schiffer! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G71qlOk-qoY I guess this is a companion to
  10. Hello Xuxa. You are very welcome. There were two mistakes in the list I gave you! One omission and one typo! That's terrible. <_< I'm sorry about that. I have made the correction (in red) to my original post. If you already wrote down the list I gave you, please make a note of the corrections. Sorry about that!
  11. Hello Xuxa. The New York Times Magazine is a supplement to the Sunday The New York Times newspaper (the magazine comes with the newspaper). There is also New York Magazine, which is different, and not affiliated with The New York Times. My public library offers an archival text-search of The New York Times. I am able to access the archive through my library's website. I searched just now (actually, for the past several hours!), and find 6 ESTEE LAUDER ads published in The New York Times for the month of September 1988. Here is the list: The New York Times; Sep 4, 1988; pg SM14 The New York Times; Sep 11, 1988; pg 41 The New York Times; Sep 25, 1988; pg 16 The New York Times; Sep 25, 1988; pg 17 The New York Times; Sep 25, 1988; pg SM6 The New York Times; Sep 25, 1988; pg SM7 I would guess that "SM" stands for "Sunday Magazine" (The New York Times Magazine). Sep 25 1988 is a Sunday. If you bought that magazine, and the ad wasn't in it, is it possible that the ad was removed? I hope that's some help.
  12. That's interesting, Phil. I'm glad you took the time to write. That was a nice expression of what you appreciated about that editorial.
  13. Great stuff, Phil. As usual. I do think that's a nice editorial (I'm particularly fond of hi-con black-and-white, personally). It's a tough choice, but I think Wet Mischief (Demarchelier, 1992) is still #1 for me. The title page of that editorial. ( http://djuna.cine21.com/christy/92b.html ) Phil, I'm not sure I understand what you mean. Can you say a little bit more?
  14. Thanks for the link, michelabella! * Bud Duke's site is back up (though the site was a little slow for me). He has a couple of new ones that I'd never seen, and are a real kick. http://www.budduke.com/index.php In the "misc" section, a two-panel thing, #114 and #115. "I can't believe he's eyeing that woman!" I got a kick out of that.
  15. billmcf: That's a nice site. It's obvious that you put a lot of time into that, and it's well done. Nice job.
  16. That was funny michelabella! I really got a chuckle out of that. And you have a good memory, to remember that cover. Good one.
  17. Hi Red, You might have a look at this list of free host services, from a thread over on SuperiorPics: http://forums.superiorpics.com/ubbthreads/.../page/0#1083707 Image Shack I have used and found reliable. For large files, they have a 1.5M limit. There is a service, "zShARE", that I have never seen before, advertising a 100M limit (and they say right on their front page, "backup your data"). I looked through their Terms of Service just now, and they seem to prohibit pornographic content, so hopefully, as an advertising-supported service, they don't take/show pornographic ads either. Nothing quite like aspiring to share a photograph of your new dogs, and discovering that the hosting service that you're using surrounds your photos with tiles and tiles of porn. Send that to your mother. Also: When I wanted to share a short movie that I made, and didn't want to downconvert it to flv format (as for YouTube), I used RapidShare ( http://www.rapidshare.com/ ), and I thought that the service worked really well. It's not an image host service, though.
  18. Zowie, that's a nice collection carMELita! Those CELINE ads are some of my favorites. (Y)
  19. 's on Zothike's site! (plus another, same outfit) http://www.zothike.com/zothike/mulder.htm 114 & 115 No ad/ed copy, though. (Also has the blacks a bit high, but still ... Zothike has it!)
  20. Hello moon_HU and welcome to Bellazon! Glad you joined! The model is actually Karen Mulder!
  21. Not sure if this was in the thread (I looked back 3 pages and also searched the topic for "lei"). LEI March 1989 cover and editorial (4) http://mjournal.ru/2008/07/02/claudia-schiffer-for-lei-1989/
  22. Try this: http://www.theasc.com/magazine/sep98/fashion/hires.htm or this: http://www.theasc.com/magazine/sep98/fashion/hitanga.mov The movie is (unfortunately) provided in very small dimensions (160x120).
