I just checked out the pilot. Yes, there's another superhero on TV and yes, the show is very conventional. It was a fun watch though and as mission statements go, fast-moving and good-natured isn't half bad. I'll be tuning in again next week. Anyone else had a look?

Supergirl Supergirl is an American television series developed by Ali Adler, Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg, that airs on CBS. It is based on the DC Comics character Supergirl (Kara Zor-El) created by Otto Binder and Al Plastino, and stars Melissa Benoist as the title character. Supergirl is a costumed superheroine who is the biological cousin to Superman and one of the last surviving Kryptonians. The series was officially picked up on May 6, 2015 after receiving a series commitment in September 2014, and premiered on October 26, 2015. Synopsis Twenty-four-year-old Kara Zor-El (Benoist), who was taken in by the Danvers family when she was 13 after being sent away from Krypton, must learn to embrace her powers after previously hiding them. The Danvers family teaches Kara to be careful with her powers, until she has to reveal them during an unexpected disaster, setting her on her journey of heroism even when it comes to protecting National City. Kara discovers that hundreds of the criminals her mother (Benanti) prosecuted on Krypton are hiding on Earth, including her mother's twin sister (also played by Benanti), who seeks to rule the world. She is aided by a few close friends and family who guard her secrets. I don't really bear old Moyesey any ill will, but not learning the old Español will surely go down in the record books as an almighty fail. As will trying to get his Sociedad team to play like a small army of Tony Hibberts. What he needs is a dull middle-order Premier League project where he can finish halfway up the league and not pull up any trees, so really, you'd probably have to say it's looking good for him to take over from Jose at the Bridge.

I've yet to be entirely convinced by the show, if I'm honest. The first run had just enough of a bigger picture element to keep me coming back, but it didn't take long for the 'cases of the week' to start feeling like a bit of a yawn. In fairness to Depay, although he could really do with a good performance or two, he's still just a young'un. There seems to be some suggestion online that the allegation involves Benzema actually trying to extort money from Valbuena. It would be genuinely bizarre if that ended up being the truth of the matter.
