during the Germany-Spain game. I noticed that too. At around the 70-minute mark of Germany/Spain, there was an incredibly frosty exchange after which I thought Lawro had legitimately upped and left. By the time Mark spoke up again a full ten minutes later (to deliver one of his customary excruciating puns, naturally), it was starting to make for slightly uncomfortable listening. Fingers crossed for an on-air punch up mid-final! :lullaby: That's actually been the most disappointing aspect of this tournament for me. If I'm not mistaken, Brazil-Holland was the one and only time in the finals that someone has managed to win from a losing position. Thrilling fightbacks, like Turkey managed on a couple of occasions at Euro 2008, and shifts in momentum are sadly lacking, with games turning on single incidents and not leveling out. The game that stands out in my mind is Spain/Portugal. Portugal were set up to stifle Spain, which is fine, but the moment they conceded, the game was over. Their gameplan was out the window, but they simply didn't know any other way to play, and what looked like a lack of urgency was in fact a total lack of tactical flexibility.

Some very odd goings on at the good old Stadium of Light yesterday. In the biggest bolt out of the blue since he joined us, club captain Lorik Cana ups sticks for Galatasaray, and now Sol Campbell appears to be headed our way. Wah?

Commiserations, Fred. I wouldn't have minded seeing Germany go all the way this year. Holland and Spain are both perennial World Cup underachievers, so it'll be a nice final for all the romantics out there. Since the Germans are no longer an option, I'll be backing Spain. The Dutch have been surprisingly boring so far.

  8. The music isn't my cup of tea but image-wise, she's my idea of everything a pop star should be. Edgy, forward-thinking, original and doesn't deal in schmaltz. Europe 4
  9. I don't think 3 vids would be too much. The ads aren't in direct competition so the game wouldn't be changed. VS - 1.5 About three seconds of thought stretched into a full ad. They were trying to cram way too many models into it and I wasn't terribly keen on the pink stripy background. Loveable - 3.5 Well made, nice style and very atmospheric, if a little random in parts. Love Pania though.

  16. Does not surprise me that her show got canceled. I kinda liked it though I don't know that Frock Me show but it doesn't sound good There are one or two mildly amusing moments but overall it's guilty pleasure TV at best.

Uruguay can count themselves unlucky there. I'd be interested to find out whether Van Persie was judged onside for the second Dutch goal, or offside and not interfering with play. He was standing right in the keeper's line of vision so if the linesman thought he was off, he should have flagged. You mean you'd swap the comedy fat guy and the hot women for Mick McCarthy and Mark Lawrenson? If so, I think I speak for the majority of UK viewers when I say - if you insist!

I had Marcel down as an excellent pundit four years ago, so to see ITV try to paint him as a kind of Ian Wright-like jester this time around is a bit odd. Someone obviously thought it'd be interesting and/or funny to show his reactions, but he seemed fairly restrained for the most part. Still, he's a much more likeable character than I gave him credit for in his playing days. Not quite up there with Klinsmann, Hodgson or Seedorf, but not half bad.
  19. Pepe Jeans ad campaign (2010) - ^Borrowed these from Liika in the Jon Kortajarena thread, so credit to her. There's even a video.
  20. Surprised there's been no mention of Batman & Robin yet. I plan on watching it again one day, just to count how many ice puns ("You're not sending me to the cooler", "Ice to see you, Batman" etc) Arnold Schwarzenegger actually delivers. My guess is triple figures.
