FIFA World Cup 2010
Dirk Kuyt is right to point the finger of blame at Howard Webb for Iniesta's goal. If he'd given out red cards when they were warranted, the game would have been abandoned long before extra time. Anyway, pleased Spain won. The thought of Khalid Boulahrouz and Andre Ooijer as World Cup winners was always a hard sell for me.

Lingerie/Undergarment ect. Commercial Competition
Calvin Klein - 4 Well made, but a little overboard on that grainy black and white style. Like Darth Vader, it was a bit on the dark side. C & A - 2.5 Started off alright, but spoilt slightly by the jarring graphics at the end. Wasn't too keen on the voiceover either. Emporio Armani - 1 Odd one. Didn't appear to be advertising anything but Megan, and I'm not a fan.

FIFA World Cup 2010
Not a problem eNe, conversation is what this place is all about. Admittedly, Spain haven't been as pleasing to the eye this year. Adding Busquets to the mix with Alonso already out there seems to have cramped their style somewhat, and I believe Del Bosque has come under fire for being needlessly defensive. Perhaps rightly so - from a purist's point of view, you don't need a ball winner in the midfield when you never lose possession. The pure neutral enjoyment has been stifled slightly, and the relentless measured passing can get a little frustrating when not accompanied by goals, but if their build-up play had been matched with ruthless finishing, no-one would have any hesitation in calling Spain worthy World Cup winners.

FIFA World Cup 2010
during the Germany-Spain game. I noticed that too. At around the 70-minute mark of Germany/Spain, there was an incredibly frosty exchange after which I thought Lawro had legitimately upped and left. By the time Mark spoke up again a full ten minutes later (to deliver one of his customary excruciating puns, naturally), it was starting to make for slightly uncomfortable listening. Fingers crossed for an on-air punch up mid-final! :lullaby: That's actually been the most disappointing aspect of this tournament for me. If I'm not mistaken, Brazil-Holland was the one and only time in the finals that someone has managed to win from a losing position. Thrilling fightbacks, like Turkey managed on a couple of occasions at Euro 2008, and shifts in momentum are sadly lacking, with games turning on single incidents and not leveling out. The game that stands out in my mind is Spain/Portugal. Portugal were set up to stifle Spain, which is fine, but the moment they conceded, the game was over. Their gameplan was out the window, but they simply didn't know any other way to play, and what looked like a lack of urgency was in fact a total lack of tactical flexibility.

FIFA World Cup 2010
Commiserations, Fred. I wouldn't have minded seeing Germany go all the way this year. Holland and Spain are both perennial World Cup underachievers, so it'll be a nice final for all the romantics out there. Since the Germans are no longer an option, I'll be backing Spain. The Dutch have been surprisingly boring so far.
