Problems and Suggestions for BZ - Post Here
^I answered your post about how the rules correspond with a mod's own judgement (amongst other things). I also mentioned earlier that I didn't know the specific circumstances of this situation and therefore wouldn't be able to give a straight 'yes or no' answer to your initial query. That still stands, no matter how many times and in how many different ways you ask. I can understand you not being happy about getting a warning, but I don't know the ins and outs of every issue on the forum. The staff are not a hive mind and we rarely have time to moderate by committee, we're individual members who chip in when we can.

Pleasantly surprised by this. As soon as I saw Flea's name attached I was worried there'd be a slap-bass solo (or six).

What does that mean? Does it go away after a while? The list also talk about "percentage". What does that mean? Does a point correspond to percent? I couldn't say with 100% accuracy, but I've never known a warning point to be rescinded since I've been part of the staff. What I mean by not being marked for life is that the staff don't hold grudges against members with warning points against their names. In other words, you wouldn't gain any kind of unwanted reputation as a result of one indiscretion. As for the line about percentages, I suspect it's a leftover from the old forum layout. The recent change dictates that warnings are now given out in points instead, but a point means the same thing as a percent. I'd be lying if I said I knew specifically what the warning was for - every mod and admin has their own standards. So what it doesn't say in the "warnable offences" list? Currently it says "The list above is more or less what we ask that people avoid." That doesn't fit so well with "every mod and admin has their own standards" The rules are very straightforward in terms of what you can and can't do, but you'll always have grey areas when personal judgement is a factor. For example, what one mod deems to be bashing, another may see as constructive criticism. Broadly speaking though, if members follow the laws of the land and not the laws of their own interpretation, they won't have any worries.

We don't really mind reposts as long as the same stuff doesn't appear more than once within a range of five pages. The forum's content includes many hundreds of thousands of images, so it's impossible to completely avoid ending up with a certain amount of duplicates.

Star Trek Into Darkness (2013)
I'm half expecting the third movie to be called 'Star Trekking Across The Universe' now. It's only a name though. The first film was great and I'm expecting big things from this one too.

Since it only takes a few moments to open an account, there's really no guarantee of a registered member being any more trustworthy than someone who simply chooses to browse. The amount of personal information you choose to part with in your profile, posts, sig, avi etc is always going to be a judgement call. If you're ever uncomfortable with having your username on display, I'd recommend signing in anonymously.

I'd be lying if I said I knew specifically what the warning was for - every mod and admin has their own standards. With regard to the rules about advertising, they're pretty cut and dried from my perspective. It's far from unheard of for people to come here simply to advertise their wares. I'm not saying you're of them, but as I'm sure you can appreciate, it arouses suspicion when we see links to other forums posted in unusual places. Having a warning doesn't mean you're marked for life, though. None of the staff are interested in targeting individuals as examples of bad behaviour without very good reason.

Skyfall (2012)
My interest in Bond has cooled a bit since 'Quantum of Solace' but I'll see this one. The trailer looks rather good and I'm excited to see Javier Bardem as the villain.

Music of 2012
Here's the new video for the David Byrne/St Vincent tune from the last page, which is currently growing on me like mad. Really looking forward to the album now. And one from new band TOY. Don't suppose it'll score top marks for originality but I like the song a lot. Kind of a poppy take on Krautrock.

Keri-Anne Payne
Keri-Anne Payne (born 9 December 1987) is a British swimmer, specialising in marathon open water swimming, and long-distance freestyle swimming in the pool. She is a two-time World 10 km Open Water champion, and an Olympic silver medallist. Payne was born in Johannesburg, South Africa to British parents, who registered her birth at the British Consulate. She started swimming aged four, and was noticed aged eight by British Swimming's national performance director Bill Sweetenham at a training camp in South Africa. As a result, the family returned to the UK to live in Heywood, Greater Manchester, when she was 13. Joining Stockport Metro, she has been coached since by Sean Kelly. Having broken British junior 800m freestyle record in 2002, Payne's central financial support was cut after she failed to win a medal at the 2006 Commonwealth Games. As a result, Kelly suggested that she tried open water swimming, allowing her to access additional central funding. She represented Great Britain at the 2008 Summer Olympics in the 200m and 400m individual medley swimming events as well as the 10 km open water event, in which was placed second and won a silver medal for Great Britain. At the 2009 World Aquatics Championships, held in Rome, Payne won the 10km swim. She finished first in a time of two hours, one minute and 37.1 seconds. In 2011 in Shanghai, Payne reclaimed the World Championship in the 10 km Open Water event, becoming in the process the first British athlete in any sport to confirm qualification for the 2012 Summer Olympic Games. Payne took part in the 10 km swimming in the London 2012 Olympics and finished fourth, four seconds behind the winner. Payne trained at British Swimming's Intensive Training Centre at Stockport's Grand Central Pools. There she meet fellow swimmer David Carry, whom she married on 15 September 2012 in Aberdeen. The couple lived in Heywood, Greater Manchester, but in light of Carry's retirement from competitive swimming and in preparation for the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, after their wedding they relocated to the Scottish capital where she joined Warrender Baths Club.

Rihanna. She stopped being interesting in probably about 2010, but Britney was never interesting to begin with.
