  1. I’d definitely jump at the chance to fully take in the atmospherics while tackling the main story missions, especially now in what promises to be such a breathtaking digital rendering of Gotham. Obviously though, it’d be extremely difficult (not to mention risky) to suddenly start pulling staples of the series up by the roots now. Plus, you can almost always revisit things afterwards, for Riddler trophies and suchlike. I’m probably just getting a bit greedy. It'll be most interesting to see Scarecrow take centre stage in this one. His voice has changed a bit, but his monologue towards the end of the trailer was genuinely chilling and the so-called 'Nightmare Missions' were always such great psychological asides to the first game's narrative.

  3. Ah, I hadn't heard about Rocksteady's change of heart regarding the game's release date until now. Not the worst thing in the world, I suppose. It'll be next year (at the earliest) before I even begin to think about upgrading and I'd much prefer them to take their time and get it right rather than rush it out. Interestingly, it seems deliberate that they haven't featured much of Detective Mode as yet. The thought occurs that they may have figured out another way of incorporating its attributes without forcing the player to be in it quite as often. It was never any more than a minor irritation, but I remember feeling an ever-so-slight tinge of sadness when I had to use it for long periods of time in the previous titles, because it meant appreciating the level design less.
  4. Another new trailer has just debuted at Sony’s E3 2014 press conference, looks like it's the real deal in terms of actual gameplay footage this time. They appear to have combined some of the best traits of 'Asylum' and 'City', and the speed at which Batman is able to fly around the rooftops is terrifyingly impressive.

  6. Two from latest album 'True Romance' - the appallingly titled 'Boom Clap' and the brilliantly titled 'You (Ha Ha Ha)'.
  7. Collaborations three: Icona Pop, Iggy Azalea, Marina and the Diamonds.
  8. 'Nuclear Seasons' and 'You're The One' from the debut EP, way back in 2010.
  9. Charlotte Emma Aitchison (born 2 August 1992), better known by her stage name Charli XCX, is a British singer and songwriter. She released two singles in 2008, "!Franchesckaar!", which is from her commercially unreleased debut album, 14; and "Emelline"/"Art Bitch". She was signed to This Is Music and IAMSOUND Records in 2010 before releasing three more singles, "Stay Away", "Nuclear Seasons" and "You're the One" from her debut EP You're the One, which was released in June 2012. After a year-long delay period, she released her debut major label studio album, True Romance, in April 2013. Currently, she is expecting to release her third studio album in September 2014. XCX was born in Stevenage, Hertfordshire to a Scottish father and Indian mother from Uganda. She started writing songs when she was 14 years old. She attended Bishop's Stortford College and left the school in 2010. Although a successful artist in her own right, Charli XCX's most successful hits (namely Icona Pop's "I Love It" and Iggy Azalea's "Fancy") are songs she co-wrote and feature her as a guest vocalist. XCX's music has been compared to the music of the 1980s with "the spookiness of Siouxsie Sioux" or "flawless early-Madonna". Her influences include Spice Girls, Kate Bush, Uffie, Brooke Candy, Lil Wayne and Quentin Tarantino. For her third solo album project, she listed The Hives, Weezer, and Ramones as influences. Various sources have listed her as goth pop or dark pop.
  10. Wouldn't be too surprised if that report turned out to be pretty accurate. A hardened Avengers team doing battle with groups of supervillains sounds like a logical extension of 'Captain America 2', where a more experienced Rogers took on the Winter Soldier. As for the rest, well, it's early days and re-writes happen all the time, several elements of the movie will no doubt still be in a state of flux. Also, I read that fifth paragraph again just now, and it put me in mind of a certain surprising news story doing the rounds a short while ago. Anyone else thinking what I'm thinking?

Still trying to work my way through 'The Last Of Us'. There was a time when I'd have been able to finish a game like it in a couple of days.

In hindsight, it was a real gaffe for Cole to return to West Ham, where Big Sam's 'style' was never likely to suit him. At least at Villa he'll be playing in a more expansive team with plenty of energy around about, which may even allow him to flourish. Provided of course that his body can still hack it after all the knackeredness.
  14. Terribly sad news, thank you Rik for so many great memories.
  15. It'll be fascinating to see if they'll have the time (or the inclination) to weave all six Infinity Gems into the storyline before 'Avengers 3' comes out. I'm guessing 'Guardians' will reference the Aether, introduce a third gem, or do both, which would still only put them at the halfway point. I don't think they'll go there with 'Ant-Man' or 'Captain America 3', so unless there are other movies in the works that we don't know about yet, that only really leaves 'Age of Ultron'.
  16. Most interesting, particularly since those little scamps at Marvel initially claimed that 'Guardians' wouldn't tie in with 'Ultron' in any significant way. A lot of people were speculating that Thanos would be the next villain though, so I suppose they could quite easily work one (or more) of the Infinity Gems into each movie and set up an even larger motivation for him to appear on Earth, perhaps as a tease to 'Avengers 3: Avenge with a Vengeance'.

Clarence Seedorf replaced by Filippo Inzaghi in the Milan hotseat, despite winning seven of his last nine games. Which doesn't sound too shabby, at least from an outsider's perspective. Pippo still getting tap-ins after all these years.

  23. I'd burn all ugg boots if I could, worst clothing item of all time. What’s your favorite thing about today so far? I assume you hope she's in AntMan too? Certainly do, although I'm a bit perturbed by the situation surrounding the movie at the moment.
  24. I'm on the bandwagon.
