  1. The shoot-out was certainly no 'Rust escapes the projects', which of course was S1's trump card. As much as I wanted to give Vaughn a fair shake, he hasn't convinced at all so far. Part of the problem is the dialogue he's being given, although I also wonder whether, if his delivery was more assured, I’d be able to buy into his character a bit more. Some of the lines, many of which you suspect McConaughey, Harrelson or even Farrell would have had a ball with, sound almost apologetic coming out of his mouth.

Members are welcome to talk about more than just Alessandra's career and the projects she's involved in. However, please do me a big favour and refrain from having extensive conversations about rumours and gossip. It causes unnecessary tension and leads to increasingly off-topic posts. If you must have such discussions please do it via PM, off the board, or in this thread. Thanks for your cooperation.

So, following on from the brief glimpse above, Fox has released the first real teaser for the event series.
  4. The first song from the next album dropped earlier today. It's not a big departure from her signature sound, but her voice sounds richer than ever before.
  5. Hmmm. Part of me wants to like it, the other part is seeing Harley and not hearing the over-the-top Brooklyn accent or feeling the volatility of the character. She only had a couple of lines so we'll have to wait and see, but I didn't feel like Margot was playing the part so much as just wearing the clothes. While I've no doubt that Leto will do a decent job as the Joker, I still think covering him in tattoos misses the point of the character entirely. I hope he's able to make the most of the rumoured source material (John Ostrander’s 1980s reboot of the team, which is so wildly different to the inspiration for Ledger’s Joker) and mark his own territory.

  8. Brightness, scope and magnitude. That's more like it! It’s an impressive trailer, both visually and in terms of length. The plot could still turn out to be a mess (it already feels crammed and we haven't even met Aquaman or Flash yet), but my fears about the film's aesthetics have certainly been eased. I'm almost certain that the brief shot of Robin's costume covered in bright green scrawl was a reference to Jason Todd, so I'm guessing they're going to adapt some of the content from 'A Death in the Family' too, if not now then probably later when Batfleck gets his own standalone movie. The casting of Jeremy Irons was overshadowed by that of Jesse Eisenberg at the time, although I must say, it left me just as bemused. Irons is a good enough actor to make pretty much anything work, but he wouldn't have been foremost in my thoughts to play a father figure helping an emotionally scarred boy stay on an even keel. Incidentally, I dare say even Kenny from 'South Park' has had fewer onscreen deaths than the Wayne family at this point.
  9. I haven't been introduced to Dottie yet, guess that's another thing to look forward to.
  10. First episode aired in the UK last night, thought it was up there with the best of Marvel's output. Warmth and humour by the bucket load, thrills and mystery in all the right places. I spent ages trying to remember why I knew the name Vanko, and I just remembered, it was the name of the Russian scientist who worked with Howard and turned out to be a spy for the KGB. After years in exile, he raised his son to be as angry as him, and of course, the son ended up being Mickey Rourke in 'Iron Man 2'. Nice little continuity nod there.
  11. The two seasons are so different that I'm not even sure they're comparable, although it's probably best to wait until the finale to think about that objectively. Round two has hardly anything in the way of referencing past events, no split narrative telling opposing sides of the story and no hints that it might be something more sinister, but every episode has left me wanting more which is always a good sign. I'm expecting it to unfold into something very exciting.
  12. It didn't end with a bang like the first two episodes did, but it's starting to feel like this season is finding some focus. It's not just a case that no-one wants to be solved, it's one where people are actively being prevented from trying to solve it, and everyone has their own secondary mystery to add to the big mystery. I’m having trouble buying Vince Vaughn as this edgy, intense hardman, though. He looks like a man you wouldn't want to get on the wrong side of, but he doesn't have enough menace or conviction to make the character believable. Why does everyone hate Ani's e-cigarettes so much?
  13. The show has also found its Elektra, in a French actress by the name of Elodie Yung. You may remember her from such films as GI Joe: Retaliation and District 13: Ultimatum.

A new trailer has been released for Fox's re-airing of all 201 original episodes, one a day, until the new series starts in January. It ends with a quick glimpse of today's Mulder and Scully.

  16. I'm not sure if it's the same across every browser, but you can usually see a topic's start date by hovering your cursor over its title.
  17. Also, do we get to see much of the Howling Commandos in season one? I had hoped for more of Dum Dum and the others after the first Captain America movie.
  18. The roommate is Lyndsy Fonseca, right?
  19. Mr Holmes. Why it's been marketed as a 'cold case' murder mystery is in itself a mystery, because it isn't that at all, it's actually a thoughtful character study of a retired Holmes. I liked it more from thinking about it afterwards than I did while I was watching it. Very gently laid out, but a very compelling portrayal by Ian McKellen.
