Well to be fair, we haven't yet seen the kind of urban warfare in which large quantities of armor roll into say Kyiv. That would be a game-changer for Russia, in terms of how vulnerable they would be in such a situation. Ukraine now has such an overabundance of Javelins/assorted manpads/RPGs that almost every front line soldier has a shaped charge weapon. We know from the battle for Berlin how much damage that can do. Stalin lost a ridiculous amount of men in the final weeks of the war, mostly because they were so vulnerable to small unit tactics and an overabundance of anti-tank weapons. I think any kind of victory that Putin still gets at this point will be a very, very costly one. If the idea was to project Russia's military might, this operation was a failure of epic proportions.

I would say a good example of the 'type' would be a girl like Summer Soderstrom.

The Syrian and African fighters is a PR coup for Putin, but not much more. They won't be deployed in great enough numbers (before you even get into the logistical issues getting them there in large numbers) and they don't have the operational capabilities to do any real damage in the actual battles. They might be used as shocktroopers to terrorize the populations of the already occupied territories. But that won't really impact Russia's hold on the country.

And I'm not referring to the beer, if that's not clear! Heineken! Only thing ruining the total package TBH. 😛

Right, but on the other hand, Russia cannot afford to commit all/most of their troops to Ukraine. Already Japan is looking at some contested islands. Apparently some of the garrison that usually occupies those is now also in Ukraine?

I'm increasingly convinced that a direct confrontation between NATO and Russia is now all but inevitable. If not now in Ukraine, then in the next few years someplace else. The only scenario in which I can see that being avoided is regime change in Russia, but that is very unlikely to happen. Extremely so even.
