Revisiting the stories for the Metal Gear Solid games. MGS3's remake is coming out soon. MGS2's story was amazing and was far ahead of its time 20 years ago. I remember when I played it, and finished it maybe 3 times I admired it a lot but felt that the cutscenes were really excessive. I always felt that the original MGS had a much better balanced story with gameplay. Back then this game was kind of polarizing because a lot of people didn't understand the high IQ story. Now revisiting it again I pick up way more nuance than I did back then. It's really detailed and shows what kind of a genius Kojima was. The game's cutscenes however are so long compared to gameplay that it's almost more like an interactive movie. They really should re-make this too. It seems overall that Kojima was more creatively gifted in his youth and in her later years- Death stranding while very creative and interesting is nowhere near MGS -

Revisiting this after 20 years. Just an awesome, genius level story for a game- one of the best game stories ever made. Kojima probably peaked with MGS1-MGS3 and never got his mojo back. MGS4 was brilliant too but suffered from a lot of excess and cheese. Death Stranding is original but nowhere near as interesting as MGS.
