PinkCouture Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 Nothing really b/c it is not the issues of people not watching, but that people are not watching the show at the time it is broadcasted b/c of things like TiVo, Digital Reecorder, and the ability to download content and even share content online. People nowadays people are able to delay television b/c of technology. For that reason it is tough for companies like Nielsen to measure ratings. Ratings are down, but the number of hours people spend watching TV has been constant Quote
PinkCouture Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 Actually there are ways to increase rating but that would require me to write a whole media plan, which I know no one here would read so I am not going to do it. Also i rather not share my ideas b/c the last time I did that, VS jacked my idea <_< Quote
*ohsoglam* Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 And the only reason I'm not able to watch it is because its on a school night at a late time. <_< Quote
ez_c Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 Here's my $.02:It's an hour long show which is basically one big commercial combined with the "making of the commercial" footage. They should add more substance to the show by spending more time interviewing the models, getting to know them as people, etc. Or, like they used to do - follow one of the new models from her initial audition all the way to the big event to show what it's like to be a VS model. Seeing women walking around in their underwear is nice, but it would be better if you actually got to know the models to see that they can be more than just pretty faces and skinny bodies. Also, you have to remember that the US is still pretty conservative and a large portion of the people would never watch VS because they think it's offensive pornography. Check this out if you don't believe me:http://www.thesmokinggun.com/archive/vsabc1.html Quote

mbinebri Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 That sample letter on TSG site was hilarious. But the people who would write that kind of letter aren't the ones who would ever watch the VSFS so I don't think they would contribute to dropping ratings. Quote
happycanadian2 Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 i think that there might not be much that VS can do. basically, the reason why the VS show was so huge from say 1999-2001 (or even 2002) was because it was something unique, something interesting and mildly provocative. however, with all these tabloid "actresses" showing off their coochies everytime they step out of a car, and all these celebs making sex tapes, as well as constant edits in the men's magazines wearing next-to-nothing, i think people have become desensitized in regards to celebrity exposure. these Supermodels, who are only moderately famous, don't have enough appeal to wrangle an audience. people watched for Heidi and Tyra because they were extremely famous women who otherwise were always clothed. the popularity and ubiquitousness of the VS catalogs have hurt the fashion show because we get to see all these women constantly in skimpy lingerie. if VS wants to improve ratings, they have to improve interest in the MODELS. this does NOT come from spending more time listening to them talk. that will only hurt them. beautiful people have long realized the power of remaining quiet, thus leaving more to the imagination. look at Scarlett Johannson, arguably the most respected and sexiest young starlet out there right now. why has she maintained this strong appeal? MYSTERY. we don't know a whole lot about her. and she keeps it that way by keeping herself out of the press as much as possible, and by dressing classy yet still sexy in all her public appearances. SO, the VS folks need to pimp out the Angels to premieres and award shows, etc. get them to go to restaurants and have the paps take their pics, but they should ALWAYS be dressed classy and not trashy (read: nothing too revealing). this will make the general public much more interested when the show comes around and they actually get to see the models in their skimpies. just my 2 cents. Yannick Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 It had pretty good ratings here in Belgium even though that it was aired at midnight But i was between christmas and newyear i think It could get more popular here and in Europe but the first thing they need to do is open VS stores in Europe Quote
ninanina19 Posted February 28, 2007 Author Posted February 28, 2007 I think they should choose sexier models. Quote
Strawberry BigMac Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 the girls cant fill them out. Quote
ninanina19 Posted March 1, 2007 Author Posted March 1, 2007 I think Strawberry BigMac is pretty right. Quote
ilford Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 I think they can not do anything.it became big when there as still many "true" supermodels, i mean models which was at the level of celebrities more than just very famous "model only".It was for people an oportunatly to see those famous girls in a show "easy access" and fun to watch, when usually the normal shows the girls use to work are not exactly exciting for large audience. So, in fact, VS show is dying; just because girls are not famous enough anymore to the largest audience. ninanina19 Posted March 1, 2007 Author Posted March 1, 2007 I just think they need curvier women. I think the only reason Jeisa wasn't good this show was because she didn't have enough energy and they didn't do her hair/makeup/outfit right. She usually has more energy even when doing highfashion. Maybe she was nervous. But seriously picking models like Stam and Heather Marks and then claiming you're picking curvy models? Seriously all they did was pick the top 20 girls that were most in demand in highfashion. A lot of them were too skinny. I mean Natasha and Hana creat controversy on the regular runway because they're so thin. Although I must admit that Natasha was fabulous and that her and Karolina stole the show. Doutzen should've gotten more outfits because she's def. someone that would appeal to guys. I really like Karolina's body now. She has gained weight and she just looks so sexy and her attitude and presence on the runway is just sexy. I think all of the models should weigh ATLEAST as much as her. We should have more girls like Tyra and Cindy Crawford and Daniela Pestova were back in the day. That's what guys WANT to see. As for people saying that girls in lingere was something new in 2001 LOL. Seriously 2001 is barely different than today in terms of what people were exposed to. Like maybe if it were 1981 then it would be something new. Models today just aren't sexy and neither are most of the outfits. I really liked the airlines part. I thought it was sexy except Adriana's outfit. Quote

True, but the VSFS is never going to get high ratings because of this. Quote
rouge red Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 I agree with the fact that they have to use more commercial and more curvier girls. nobody (or at least not the target group) wants to see skinny high fashion girls. it's not sexy anymore, but it's meant to be sexy. or when they have to use HC girls they should use curvier ones - Eugenia Volodina for example. as much as i love stammy and i loved her at the show, i know what ppl mean when they say she's not hot enough. ninanina19 Posted March 1, 2007 Author Posted March 1, 2007 I hope they pick Jeisa again. She could've been among the hottest by far if she has better outfits and more energy. Quote
