In her anticipated pregnancy she confesses why we should care for our planet in the environment she knows best and with whom she identifies: nature, water, wind, life "Climate change is a fact, we feel it clearly…but people decide not to pay care. We must wake up." When you see the images, these act as a manifesto. Candice hugs the smell of the rocks, feels the current of water between her tendons. Stretches the body backwards, relaxing the point in which they join her neck and her blessed clavicle, looking for the sun. Talking, perhaps. Candice Swanepoel (Mooi River, South Africa, 1988) is a supermodel of legs eternal and golden career, but her with many other things to say. There is also more to say. Raised on a farm, in a natural environment and privileged landscapes. Candice has been proven engaged with things environmental and the protection of what she finds to be the extension of her own life. In this special number in which Vogue Spain pays homage to the scenery that surrounds us, the model explains why now is the moment - the ultimate moments perhaps- to take seriously the defense of the planet. Candice, the green angel full of life- plus she is pregnant and expecting a boy- reminds us that we only have one opportunity to return to our environment all it has given us. VE: You have always shown to be very committed to the environment. In what organizations or concrete causes do you participate in? CS: I do everything possible, all that I can. I think that the principal responsibility that we have as people is to care for the planet. I’ve always found happiness and inspiration thanks to nature, since my childhood in the farms of Africa were I grew, until now in my adulthood. The planet is clearly suffering because of our selfish and greedy behavior. It is our duty and our gift to future generations to respect Mother Earth and care for her. Concrete causes? It has been implicated in the defense of the rhinoceros and the elephant, and I try to live my life in a conscientious and respectful manner. VE: What do you think of the climate problem in which we live? CS: We are at a point in which each one of us should wake up and go out and leave their own particular reality television, of the daze and the daily distractions to realize that if we don’t change now our future and that of our children could be very different. The facts are there, we clearly feel the changes… but people decide not to pay care. VE: The three simple things can we do to improve our environment? CS: Eat less meat, use products that don’t use plastic or toxins that ruin our water sources and destroy ecosystems, and in general, be conscious of where exactly come the products we consume, how they are made. There are many things that seem small but that if we all do we can make the difference. VE: What is the most powerful message that fashion can throw out in these moments? CS: Sustainable fashion would be the best change. All companies should track their environmental footprint. Fashion is extremely important, if we propose an objective the rest would follow. There are great sustainable brands of fashion in which I support like handbags of Bottletop or the clothes of Reform. I’m a good example of them. VE: How do you remember and what has it meant to you to have grown in a natural environment? CS: It’s difficult to explain. It’s as if I have lived a dream or have been in a movie. Africa is a very powerful place, full of energy and virgin nature that has molded a large part of who I am. What I learned there, the style of my childhood, definitely has influenced much in the person I am now. VE: What has been your favorite environment you have been in? CS: Africa or Brazil are the places with the most beautiful and powerful landscapes that I have seen along my travels. VE: How was your experience doing this photo session for Vogue Spain? CS: It was great, being surrounded by nature…I felt happy and in peace, as if nothing else mattered in that moment. I remember that it started to rain while we were shooting the photos. That warm rain drew a perfect moment. Nature is comfortable, beautiful, and always makes me feel precious and calm. SELECTED QUOTES: “It is our duty and our gift to future generations to respect Mother Earth and care for her. The planet is suffering” "Sustainable fashion would be the best change. All companies should track their environmental footprint. Fashion is extremely important, if we propose an objective the rest would follow.” “ Africa is a very powerful place. I have always found inspiration and happiness in nature”. --Daniel Borras
