Karlie Kloss holding a bundle of puppies on the cover of Porter is as sweet an image as you’ll see on newsstands this month, but the issue’s real story is Kloss’ candid interview with editor in chief Lucy Yeomans. In the piece, Kloss sounds off on feminism; fame; and missing her close friend, designer Oscar de La Renta, whom she remembers as a Renaissance man and staple of her fashion week process. “It is going to be weird this fashion week not going in and just giving Oscar a big hug,” Kloss explained.

A main talking point in the article is Kloss’ journey to New York University. While her transition from top model to (presumably) top student has been well documented by the media, she’s in no hurry to do the traditional course load, instead setting her attention on creating a balance between work and school. “I’m not in any rush to get a degree in four years. I’m figuring out how I’m going to balance it all, but I am planning to take a class in the fall,” said the model. Though she hasn’t settled on a concentration, coding has emerged as a potential interest. Still, that Karlie Kloss app might be a little far off. “I definitely could not get a job as a coder yet,” she quipped. “But it is something I am fascinated by, even if it is not the profession I choose. Simply having the comprehension of the way that it works, having the ability to speak that language and to be able to not only comprehend it, but write and build something—the world is built on code.”

A career in coding might not be in the cards just yet, but Kloss does credit the Internet with allowing her and other models to reach a wider audience. “When they’re casting a girl, they will look at how many Twitter followers she has, how many Instagram followers, the kind of reach that she has. [Even just a few years ago] the industry as a whole said that you were not allowed to say what you were doing or who you were working with. Now if you use the tool in the right way, it can be a way to have a voice in a way that somebody like me never had before,” she explained of her peppy social media presence.

While social media may have allowed the world to hear Kloss’ opinions, make no mistake: The self-described feminist has always held her own. “I grew up in a house with four women—it’s hard not to be a feminist,” she told the glossy. As for what the future holds, Kloss remains focused on self-improvement, telling Porter she isn’t interested in traditional measures of success. “I’m excited for the future, I’m excited for all that it holds,” said Kloss, “but for me the focus is on continuing to challenge myself and make myself better.”

Rumor is that TS is filming a music video for 'Bad Blood' and that bunch of her friends will be in it.

Et voilà, Karlie at LAX.
