If only I hadn't signed that lovely legal document at work, I would have been able to tell you about Kate B a while ago! But I made a friend post something about a rumor in here, so technically there was a hint for her (;

Loving the scans though, Emily D is probably my favorite rookie, even with all the press surrounding Hannah early on. The swimsuits they chose for her worked really well with the scenery/her skin and eyes.

    Lol guess we know who's the insider now i think after that MarsVS went to her twitter, but by looking at the twitter pictures we totally had no idea Kate B was there. I'm just shocked we didn't get Emily, Hannah is not popular on BZ but Emily has a decent amount of followers and not a single person thought it would be her O.o

    And i also agree about her being the best rookie, while the other three did also a good job Emily is just a better model (IMO of course) and it shows here because her posing is better, her facial expressions are better too ... I like Hannah too but in some pictures i feel like she just was thinking "Squeeze boobs, butt out, hoochie face". I do think this group of rookies is the best one in a while though, the four girls did well

    BTW all the pictures from the magazine are in Gettyimages by Contour, unfortunetly the trick i used to have to get the pictures untagged does not work with Contour anymore so if someone is able to get the pictures would be great

    Okay, having gone over the pics once, a few general observations:

    • Overall I think it is a very good edition.
    • Nina and Alyssa are my favorites.
    • Anne V and Irina were very pleasant surprises.
    • Kate's shoot was better than I had thought based upon just the previews and the cover.

    1. Alyssa: she looks absolutely amazing!
    2. Nina: the best Nina shots are also the very best in this edition
    3. Emily: my favorite rookie
    4. Anne V: the first time I have liked her this much in SISE
    5. Irina: Unexpectedly good

    I think Jessica Gomes and Kate Upton would be my n°6 and 7.

    the issue itself, though.... i just feel like they've lost SO much of the exotic, mysterious sensuality of the magazine as it was years ago. i mean -- ENDLESS pics from the thighs up?! it might as well be a cheap Maxim shoot or any swimsuit catalogue photoshoot. the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue is supposed to be THE most significant magazine of it's kind each year. and yet the photography in this issue feels utterly lackluster. it hasn't been all that good for years, if i'm honest - but each year i come back to check it out in hopes that it gets better!

    think back to the amazing location pics of Laetitia Casta and Rebecca Romijn in Africa. Or of Karen Mulder in the south of France. or Sarah O'Hare in all her gorgeous bronzed glory just subtly covered in sand. or Heidi Klum in Argentina, or Stacey Williams in Mexico. I mean, those are the first examples popping into my head, but none of them are all that long ago. and the photography then felt like it was SO much more significant than now.

    i am disappointed. i don't even fault the models; most of the women they selected are absurdly beautiful, with gorgeous healthy bodies that are perfect for showing off bikinis. it's the photographers. it all just looks so ... TIRED. so DONE. and leaves me feeling decidedly OVER IT.

    if i were in charge i'd fire all of them. i'd look for photographers that can actually set a tone, set a mood for a shoot. photographers that can get something real and raw and natural and powerful instead of this cheap looking catalogue shit.

    I'm torn apart when it comes to the magazine.

    On the one hand: a better issue than the lastest ones.

    On the other hand: some of the photos screaming to me 'the photographer hasn't been interested to take good photos; too tired, too busy to count the salary of the shooting in his head and how to use it, ...' - by far too boring for me. They had been at great locations (Srsly, 5 (!!!) continents + Antarctica) and we got quite boring photos. Meh, meh. Is it that complicated to find good photographers nowadays?

    Furthermore: you could use a bundle of photos for a catalog which sells swimwear.

    About the photoshop use ... *sigh* The complete shootings looking good for me (although I still don't understand why they had to remove freckles & co) but for the magazine itself ... SI, why you photoshopped the boobs again? (I don't want to start about the lighting, contrast, colouring, ... stuff.)

    I still don't understand why they used Kate for the cover again. And why they used such an ugly photo for it. Kate has quite some good photos which they could have use for the cover. If I would have been in charge to decide which girl has to be on the cover, I think I would have given it to Ariel. If Emily wouldn't have been a rookie I would nominate her for the cover but well ... maybe next year.

    All over: I'm still surprised that SI managed it that I like Irina's, Nina's and Anne V's photos. Beautiful girls, don't get me wrong, but they had never been my favs when it comes to SI. Although Anne reminds me (from far away) of Brooklyn Decker. I'm a bit unsure what to think about the wig for Alyssa's bodypaint photos (Yes, I know they used old covers as an idea.) because it looks so weird on her. Rookie of the year is Emily. At least for me. She's stunning. And her shooting is the best (she knows what to do, you can see that); very classy for SI.

    I missed some of the fun yesterday. I stopped reading when the scans were posted because I haven't gotten the mag yet and I want to see the pics for the first time in it.

    When I first went to the swimsuit model index I saw that Kate had 29 pics and now she has 28 pics. I think this is the missing one. A lower quality version was previously posted. Maybe she had them get rid of the pic because she thought she looked stupid. I think she looks pretty.

    I like all the ass this year in the outtakes(I still want more). But none for Gen, that's a shame.

    Gen looks like a bombshell in this one. But if you are going to photoshop out anything SI, how about the fact that it looks like she is peeing.

    I'm going to write some fan fiction based on this one. I'm gonna have a gun!

    And let us praise Kate. She didn't have to do body paint. But she did it and it was epic!
