July 24, 20232 yr B.O. TOTALS: ‘Barbie’ $155 Million, ‘Oppenheimer’ $80 Million Job well-done, Mr. Nolan. And, of course, Ms. Gerwig. Their films are now responsible for the 4th best box-office weekend of all-time. Who says cinema is dead? It’s alive, for now. Warner Bros. can also claim to have the biggest weekend debut of 2023. It’s also the all-time biggest for a female director. Will “Oppenheimer” and “Barbie” have legs? That’s the big question now. Truth be told, I don’t think we’re likely going to see another weekend quite like this one for a very long time. The future of moviegoing is still up in the air, where does it head now? There’s also an actors/writers strike that could shapeshift the entire industry. Then again, Tom Cruise didn’t have a good weekend, at all. In only its second weekend of release, “Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning Part One” finished fourth with a paltry $19.5 million, a disastrous 65% drop. Its domestic total now stands at $118 million. ‘Dead Reckoning’ suffered from poor timing. It got caught in the “Barbeheimer” firestorm. What a shame, especially since, when compared to summer flops “Indiana Jones 5” and “The Flash,” it’s actually a good movie. Spoiler Forever in LOL about Tom Flop Cruise
July 25, 20232 yr Margot is amazing, she first caught my attention in 'The Wolf of Wall Street'. I've been following her ever since, and I think her best movie role so far was Tonya.

I also really like her take on Harley Quinn, even if the films themselves have left something to be desired. Also seems like, given the critical reception and the box office, that she's knocked it out of the park with Barbie as well.

She is a very strong and versatile actress 💯 I also want to mention her role in Babylon, which in my opinion was worthy of an Oscar nomination.

July 25, 20232 yr I would imagine that Margot will probably return to the role, assuming she wants to, if the character comes up in the rebooted DC films. Lady Gaga is only playing it in the new Joker film, which is a standalone, so she's not really the "official" Harley Quinn. I would assume that Margot still holds that title until James Gunn says otherwise. She definitely did pave the way for whoever eventually comes next in that role, though, that is for sure.

Oh yes, I meant it, I just didn't put it quite correctly. As far as I know, DC plans to have a film about Harley, Catwoman and Poison Ivy with Margot as Harley. Although, given the current changes, I don't know if it's destined to happen

Margot has an enormous amount of source material behind her.

People who aren't into comics that much were not particularly familiar with her like with Batman. Not everyone even watched this old Batman cartoon.
July 25, 20232 yr Never heard of Harley Quinn before. I knew about Batman and Joker to stay in the Batmanverse. I think my first Batman movie was this god awful Clooney version 😅

Margot's Harley is similar to the comics, games, and cartoon. I agree though that the Suicide Squad films helped propel into the mainstream. Going forward there is a more advanced development of Harley Quinn in the 'White Knight' comics that make her arguably even more interesting as a lead character.

July 27, 20232 yr I just saw Barbie and I loved, congrats to Margot and everyone involved for the sucess.
July 28, 20232 yr I just lost a ton of respect for Margot knowing she played in this terrible movie. This movie looks like garbage, a symptom of a society that promotes hatred, distrust and spite.
