Karen Mulder

Karen Mulder was born in Vlaardingen, Holland in 1968. Her father is a civil servant and her mother a secretary. Karen has a younger sister, Saskia, who recently started her own modeling career after studying economics.

In 1987, Karen won a modeling contest in Amsterdam, which makes her a finalist in Elite's Look Of The Year worldwide competition. She won second place and left high school to travel to Italy with her mother for a formal photo shoot, and then to Paris for modeling school, where the Elite modeling agency took over her career. Surprisingly, she wasn't always as sophisticated as she is now. In fact, when a gaggle of girlfriends took then 14-year-old Karen Mulder's picture and submitted it for a beauty contest, she was downright gawky.

By her second year on the runway, she was fronting for Valentino, YSL, Lanvin, Versace, and Armani. She appeared on the cover of Vogue Italia and before long, landed a contract for Guess?.

During the following three years, Karen climbed the steps to supermodel status, learinnig along the way. The first important steps in her career were a British Vogue cover shot by Tyen and the Nivea advertising campaign.

The list of her clients has become quite impressive. Campaigns she has appeared in include Guess?, Calvin Klein, Claude Montana, Ralph Lauren, Yves Saint Laurent fashion and Rive Gauche fragrance, as well as Guerlain, Chlo

Kate Moss

kate moss was discovered by Sarah Doukas of Storm Agency at JFK Airport when kate moss was fourteen. After being featured in the British magazine The Face, kate moss caught the eye of Harper's Bazaar editor-in-chief Liz Tilberis who featured kate moss in the September 1992 relaunch issue. Calvin Klein then signed kate moss, and through his media saturation landed kate moss image on every magazine, bus stop, and billboard in North America. This seemingly overnight success has not come without criticism, however. kate moss thin physique caused controversy over the "fashionable" waif look; it managed to land kate moss on a 1993 People cover under the title "Skin and Bones." kate moss atypical look (small stature and slight weight) seemed to be the 90's response to the Amazon supermodels of previous decades and as a result, critics presumed that kate moss's popularity would be short-lived. Now, nearly six years later, kate moss's career hasn't waned. The press has moved on to other personalities, and kate moss, who has always kept a relatively low profile, has survived unscathed. kate moss still maintains a rather cultish following in the fashion world and kate moss only response to critics: "The more visible they make me, the more invisible I become."

Linda Evangelista

Known as one of the five original supermodels, along with Claudia Schiffer, Cindy Crawford, Christy Turlington and Naomi Campbell, this 5'9" beauty was born on May 10th, 1965, in St. Catharine's, Ontario, Canada. Linda was raised in a working class, traditional Italian Catholic family and knew that she wanted to pursue a modeling career by the age of 12.

Linda's big break came when she participated the 1988 Miss Teen Niagara Contest at age 15, when a modeling scout discovered her. Although she didn't win, entering the contest was what ultimately led to Linda's successful modeling career.

Although discovered by a modeling scout, Linda's rise to the top of supermodel stardom was not an easy one. Her career began in New York, where she signed with the Elite Model Agency. Before finally getting a job booking with high profile fashion magazine Vogue, Linda moved to Paris to try to develop her career.

The three-year wait that Evangelista had to endure before getting the job at Vogue was worth it, since the string of jobs that came later made up for lost time. Linda's beautiful facial structure and striking blue-green eyes have appeared on practically every fashion magazine cover on an international scale.

Not only has she graced a slew of magazine covers around the world, but Linda has also appeared in advertising campaigns for the following companies: Alberta Ferretti, American Express, Anne Klein, Barney's, Bloomingdale's, Calvin Klein, Chanel, Chlo

Younger sister Danielle has worked in the peace Corp and worked most recently as production assistant on cindy crawford's film 'Fair Game'. cindy crawford also appears in the film as a waitress. cindy crawford now works on a dude ranch in Colorado. Graduated Valedictorian of DeKalb High with a 4.0 avg.

cindy crawford life is the classic rags to riches tale. Well, almost. No overnight sensation, it was rags or rather the clothing trade, that brought cindy crawford to the rather lofty financial level as the highest paid, and probably the single most widely recognized supermodel. Commanding somewhere in the neighborhood of six to nine million dollars last year alone. cindy crawford was the spokesperson for Pepsi for a while, and cindy crawford commercial introducing Pepsi's new look was a finalist for Advertising Age's "The Best Awards 1991." cindy crawford picture has graced the covers of over four hundred major international magazines. As the host of MTV's "House of Style," satellites beam cindy crawford and cindy crawford world of fashion to the farthest reaches of the globe. Celebrating its Fifth Anniversary this year, "House of Style" remains one of the most popular shows on MTV. Crawford recently hosted cindy crawford first special for the network which featured a behind-the-scenes look at "Melrose Place," "Saturday Night Live" and the White House as well as interviews with Shaquille O'Neal and Rosie O'Donnell. cindy crawford has also done at least calendars (including a new for 1996) and of the profit, half (I believe) goes toward fighting leukemia, and cindy crawford has put out two exercise videos. Has a three year $3 million contract with Revlon. Appeared in print ads for JH Collectibles and Capezio Bags, and also in a series of lingerie posters for Hennes & Mauritz in Europe. The Norway police was forced to tore many of them down because they feared drivers were being too distracted. cindy crawford is also the jewelry fashion spokesmodel for Kay Jewelers, part of the Sterling family of fine jewelry stores, which will launch a signature collection bearing cindy crawford name soon. cindy crawford has said she feels too old for runway modeling, and wishes to cut back to part time modeling. When first starting out cindy crawford was called "Baby Gia" after now dead Gia Carangi, the main difference being that Cindy was wholesome and Gia died from her lifestyle. The resemblance between them in the early years is uncanny. Appeared topless in the July 1988 Playboy. Quote: "I don't mind if someone thinks a picture of me decorates their wall nicely. It's weird when you think what people might be doing to it. But if you just the way I look can make someone feel good, that's a pretty easy way for me to bring them some pleasure. I just don't want to hear about graphics details, you know."

cindy crawford was married to actor Richard Gere in Dec '91 at the Little Church of the West in Las Vegas, by Rev. Wes McPherson. They using wedding bands twisted from chewing gum wrappers. cindy crawford said , during an interview, they planned on having a child soon. Those plans, now of course canceled. cindy crawford is frequently rumored to be bisexual, and having an affair with Christy Turlington. In '91 they were photographed while kissing behind the Roxy nightclub in New York. The rumors have intensified since cindy crawford appeared on the cover of Vanity Fair shaving k.d. lang, a confirmed lesbian. On May 6, 1994, the London Times published a full page advertisement in which cindy crawford and Richard Gere proclaimed: "We are heterosexual and monogamous and take our commitment to each other very seriously". It cost them $30,000. The move to producing came for cindy crawford in 1992 with the highly successful "cindy crawford/Shape Your Body Workout." In addition to starring in the exercise video, which developed with personal trainer Radu, cindy crawford also served as an executive producer. Topping Billboard's Health and Fitness charts since its debut in October of 1992, the video has sold more than 2 million copies in the United States alone. Amazed at overwhelming response the workout tape, cindy crawford and Radu did it again with a follow-up release entitled "The Next Challenge." No surprise, true to form this tape also became a winner. The video is comprised of one complete workout program that features a "cross-training" approach to total body workout rather than the "circuit training" approach of the first video. The same company who made the last 4 calendars has brought out the cindy crawford 1994 European Edition Calendar which has various pics taken from her last four calendars.

Also, there is another calendar produced by an English firm which is of fairly poor quality (its only 12 month while the European Edition is 16 months). [Addresses for the two companies, CULTRE SHOCK and DAY DREAM CALENDARS, are in the addresses section the supermodel FAQ.] In 1992, cindy crawford hosted two specials for Fox TV "Concert for Life" dedicated to the memory of Freddie Mercury and broadcast live from Wembley Stadium, and "Stuntwomen World Tour '92," an exciting look at Hollywood's stuntwomen. Cindy has apartments in New York City and Bel Air, California. Has cottages in Westchester, New York and a beach house in Malibu. She lives in the same New York City building as Linda Evangelista, Christy Turlington and Winona Ryder. Dividing her time between New York and Los Angeles, Cindy Crawford is hard at work building her career from coast to coast when she's not starring in major motion pictures.

Niki Taylor

Born and raised in Fort Lauderdale, Miami on March 5, 1975, Niki Taylor was always extremely close to sisters Joelle and Krissy, and parents Ken and Barbera.

An aspiring marine biologist, Niki's career plans took a different route after her mother sent photos of the then 13-year old beauty to a Florida modeling agency. An agency signed her, and it didn't take long for Niki's beautiful face to appear on the pages of French catalogues and magazines such as Seventeen, when she was thirteen years old.

The hazel-eyed, statuesque beauty broke several records in her freshman days as a model. Niki became the youngest model ever to sign a multi-million dollar contract, when she became a L'Oreal spokesperson and Cover Girl's newest face at age 17. Niki also holds the title of the youngest person to appear on the cover of the high fashion magazine Vogue.

By the time Niki was 16 years of age, she had made her first million. She has appeared in over 160 magazines, including: Allure, Cosmopolitan, the American, Thai and Italian editions of Elle, Glamour, Harper's Bazaar, Mademoiselle, the Australian, Italian, British, and American editions of Marie Claire, Sassy, Shape, not to mention Yahoo Internet Life.

Niki has modeled for companies such as Gap, Lee Riveted, Liz Claiborne, Nokia, Zum Zum, and the ever-so-popular Victoria's Secret, whose advertising campaign helped solidify the modeling careers of fellow models Stephanie Seymour, Helena Christensen, Tyra Banks, and Laetitia Casta.

When not appearing in ads and on magazine covers, Niki strutted her stuff on the catwalks of such fashion houses as Chanel, Chloe, Givenchy, and Calvin Klein.

Like most other models, such as Elle MacPherson and Sofia Vergara, Niki Taylor released her own calendar, giving men worldwide the pleasure of seeing her every day of the year. Niki can also be seen in the 1997 and 1998 issues of Sports Illustrated's Swimsuit Edition.

Modeling is not Niki's only day job. She is also the head and founder of her own company, Niki Inc., and the mother of twin sons Jake and Hunter. Niki was married to football player Matt Martinez, the father of her sons.

As for her other family members, Niki's younger sister Krissy, who was also on her way to becoming a model, passed away in 1995, dying of asthma complications.

Named one of People magazine's 50 Most Beautiful People in the World, Niki spends her free time jet skiing, scuba diving, swimming, exercising, kick-boxing, and practicing yoga.

She also enjoys cooking and would prefer a home-cooked meal to a fancy restaurant any day. A traditional homebody, Niki would trade in her designer clothes for a comfortable pair of jeans any day.

Coming close to James King and Carr
