I was expecting it. I didn't like it, but if they hadn't done it than they would have spent a lot of unnecessary time on Halbrand. So it was a bit predictable.

I thought he was Halbrand too but the way they crafted the arc of the character to the reveal was very underwhelming and uninteresting to me.  There are many ways to do it to make it awesome, but they did in a lame way.

Yeah but they spent too much time on someone who would otherwise not be that important a character for him not to have been Sauron. So in that regard it made sense.

I see some people are complaining about the Leni & Heidi Klum shoot for Intimissimi?

The argument seems to be that it's "inappropriate" for a mom and daughter to pose like that.

I thought the shoot was very tame and even endearingly sweet. If you see something other than that, the problem is probably your own mind and not the photoshoot itself. :idk:

There were really only two other suspects- The stranger (who is much more like Gandalf/Istari than Sauron) and the creepy Eminiem creature.  The issue with the latter is that it had virtually no development.

I think the impact would have been better if Halbrand was a charismatic and deeply likable character, and there was a deceptive romantic relationship between him and Galadriel already.  So the fanbase would be like "HalbrandGaladriel" stans and so forth.  They didn't pull it off though as both Galadriel and Halbrand are unlikeable.

Sauron, according to Tolkein's lore was a shapeshifter who was charismatic and likeable but at the same time had a 'tinge' of creepiness/weirdness.  I guess they tried to capture this in the show in their own way but not successfully.

Is this happening? where?

Leni doesn't look much like her mom, it's almost like they aren't related.  She is like a head shorter.

This is just one example:

I agree that it's dumb, people who don't know the Klum family probably won't even know they are mother and daughter, as you say.

Also unless there are shots of that shoot I haven't seen, it's all pretty innocent and wholesome.

Like what is the big deal about shots like this? :idk:

You graduated under Giuliani's NYC and Bush's USA, right? At the time, the liberals were a counter-weight.

Nowadays, ultra liberals have become the inquisition (not the counter culture anymore).

They even burn books in the name of their cult (here) :Amelie_wft:

The liberal arts college at NYU was and still is the NE's version of UC Berkeley.   There were progressive protests about all sorts of things all the time, particularly in the nearby Washington Square and Union park.  The tuition and board was $40,000 a yr when I attended, by 2016 it was $80,000 and now it's even more expensive.  So it's a school where good students from the upper/upper-middle classes would attend.  But their attendance implies that they failed to get into the ivy league schools like Columbia and Stanford.

You combine youth with arrogance, curiosity, and idealism- plus a lot of disposable income and free time in the city & you have a lot of progressive academics and political activity.

TBH I regret not attended the liberal arts college and going the legal track, because all the carefree & beautiful girls were there.  If I met my wife there my life would have massively changed.

I attended one of the university's elite programs that had only ugly/plain girls and asians. In my school there was not a single hot girl, just a small number of good looking ones.  In all the 'serious' career programs the girls were all dour and serious.

Sadly it's an actual thing. Happens during child birth when a woman is just too small down there and the babies head struggles to fit the birthing cana . Normally the issue fixes itself shortly after child birth (5-7 daysish), but other times it doesn't, and I'm not even laughing about him. I'm laughing at the rest of the troglodytes.

@Matt!

how far are you into Rings and House of the Dragon?

I am 2 episodes behind in HOD.  I heard the last one was great.  The final episode for Rings is dropping soon.

Just finished ROP season last night, now the cards are on the table and the show is getting interesting. Hope we won’t have to wait long for season 2.

Both shows are going to end with massive cliffhangers.  We have the rise of mordor for Rings S2 and given the rate of progress, the war for HOD will be also slated for Season 2.

Rings Season 2 is slated for release in 2 years, so it's going to be long I'm afraid : (.

Elon Musk is a moron who is ready to sell out Europe for his own small self-interests. This shit isn't funny if you actually live here.

what did he do now?

I find it interesting that he comes across as impulsive at times (not good for Tesla investors) but is so successful that the fallouts are absorbed.  But one day he may cross the Rubicon and make a serious mistake.

His attempt at "diplomacy" followed by threatening to pull Starlink from Ukraine after it predictable got strong negative reaction from Ukraine.

His child-like temperament is fine when he is just using it to pump and dump stocks or just act like a garden variety troll on twitter but this is fucking war, one which will likely determine the future of all of Europe.

It seems more like a negotiation between him and the US government on financing Starlink's costs in Ukraine. There's a problem between Biden's administration and Musk's companies.

Musk shouldn't interfere in diplomacy (but Gates shouldn't as well, and Soros, etc.)

The real problem is that the actual guy in charge (Biden) is a senescent puppet under the influence of neocons and unrealistic advisors (though they are very effective). And Putin is a solitary guy with nukes (which is even more worrying).

Putin is certainly a destabilizing force in Europe, but Biden's USA is not a stabilizing force either.
