Thanks for BAFTA long list, but , unfortunately that list will be pared down to just 5 actors.

And Deadline Hollywood in their reporting, listed the '5' actors that were chosen in the first of 3 rounds of voting putting an asterisk next to their name

Leading Actor

Antonio Banderas (Robert Ledgard) – The Skin I Live In

Brad Pitt (Billy Beane) – Moneyball*

Brendan Gleeson (Gerry Boyle) – The Guard

Daniel Craig (Mikael Blomkvist) – The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

Eddie Redmayne (Colin Clark) – My Week with Marilyn

Gary Oldman (George Smiley) – Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy*

George Clooney (Matt King) – The Descendants*

Jean Dujardin (George Valentin) – The Artist*

Leonardo DiCaprio (J. Edgar Hoover) – J. Edgar

Michael Fassbender (Brandon) – Shame*

Owen Wilson (Gil) – Midnight in Paris

Peter Mullan (Joseph) – Tyrannosaur

Ralph Fiennes (Caius Martius Coriolanus) – Coriolanus

Ryan Gosling (Driver) – Drive

Ryan Gosling (Stephen Meyers) – The Ides of March

So going by first round, Leo would not be included.

I'm certainly hoping for an Oscar nod, but I won't start my offiicial celebrating to I hear Leo's name on Jan 24th :p

Ah, I knew it would be scaled down - but I thought with the other noms he would have got a place! Shame really...

Well think we're all set for an oscar nom right?

I think we are indeed! ;)

Ox Wow that is extremely dissapointing news..... now I can't get too excited about an oscar nod just yet!

quite alright! :D

:D

Well think we're all set for an oscar nom right? :p

Now we just need to see an Oscar in his hands!

I personally think Titanic 3-D will be a huge success and I'll be sitting there in the first row! :p Many people have affection for this movie and for sure they will attend to it! :)

Daniel Craig? :x <_<

Pami Leo didn't get nominated for a BAFTA award after all  After hearing about him getting a BAFTA nod I was very positive about his oscar chances but now I learned you can never be too sure! Like Ox said we just have to wait until January 24! :p

As to Baftas

One must remember these are the British Film Awards and the British production "Tinker, Tailor, Spy" earned 16 nods including its lead actor Gary Oldman

And Michael Fassenbender( who resides in London ) just won the British Independent Film BA award

So , no one was surprised to see those two included in the '5 , and then you add in the ususal suspects =Clooney, Pitt, Dujardin.

So, personally, I wasn't expecting to see Leo in the Top Five

My focus is still on the Oscars and hearing the well deserved name = Leonardo DiCaprio :)

Fash

We'll all be feeling even better when we hear Leo's name announced on Jan 24th ! We just have to continue to think positive and keep our fingers crossed :)

Until then, don't forget this coming Thurs Jan 12th the BFCA awards !!!!

I can't wait to see Leo all dressed up on red carpet :bounce: :bounce:

Also Oxf don't know if we can always rely on the Bafta. I mean Sandra Bullock was not even nominated and actually won the Oscar so

fingers crossed Girls!!!

oh it's all right, let's wait for Oscar announcement girls. Remember last month when most of us thought he wouldn't be nominated in anything and he was nominated in 3 awards, let's not lose the hope. ;)

ByPrincess

Great fact to mention about Bafta nods /wins (Y)

I mean Sandra Bullock was not even nominated and actually won the Oscar
