BarbieErin Posted July 25, 2019 Posted July 25, 2019 I think Leo would gladly work with a female director IF he liked the script and wanted to tell that story... simple as that. But nowadays everyone wants to make a big deal out of nothing. I just think the Hollywood Reporter got some people envy... idk what happened, no one needs to agree with what's written there, but what's the point to bring him down too? The thing is Leo build his career incridibly well, and haters gonna hate. HIS BRAND IS EXCELLENCE! Quote

It's not even they missing a particular female director, it's only about to work with a woman, no matter which, faceless with female tributes. So this is the solution of the whole problem? Like really? And it's not like Leo never worked with women. He's doing it all the time. Do your research, folk! Lots of female directors for his latest documentaries, he did produced movies with a female director and (like mentioned) he worked twice with a female director (Critters 3, Total eclipse). That's more than most other so called A-listers can say. Leo played the females love interest in one of the biggest love stories ever, for christ sake. He will bring up the life of Jane Goodall on the big screen. But yeah, seems still not good enough Plus I'm pretty sure there working some women for Appian Way lol Isn't a woman running the whole company? Quote

For me to call him out for not working with women is ridiculous. Quote

oxford25 Posted July 25, 2019 Posted July 25, 2019 Re the Leo /female director discussion First , I agree with comments made by my fellow posters . Leo's choices are based on subject matter that interest him , to explore a character that interest him , and if the director's vision and script is one he shares /is interested to explore His choice is not dictated by whether one is a male or female director , or whether your name is George, Mary , or Bob, or if you were born in the US vs German vs Mexico, etc , or if you hair is blonde or red , your are tall or short At same time, I agree with comments made to me long ago by another long time fellow Leo fan : Research will show that ever since Titanic people have been "telling /advising' Leo what he should do . Whether it was their faulting him for taking a year off after Titanic, the fact that he doesn't do movies every year, the fact that he mainly does dramas instead of comedies or romcoms , etc And instead of listening to all these 'outside voices' Leo has instead listened to his inner voice , as well as, the voice of the 'muses' that he respects He has , like Frank Sinatra, chosen to do it 'his way' , and I rather suspect , he always will 👍 Quote
