September 13, 201212 yr "The Wolf of Wall Street" brings road closures to ArdsleyLeonardo DiCaprio and Martin Scorsese are busy shooting their latest film in Ardsley, and that could mean trouble for Friday’s rush hour commute.Village Manager George Calvi released a revised filming schedule that features periodic road closures starting at 6:30 p.m on Route 9A between Ashford Avenue and Center Street. He said police will not allow these closures to last for more than 15 minutes at a time.During these closures, northbound traffic will be re-routed to Ashford Avenue east, then Legion Drive north, and alternately Center Street or Heatherdell Road west. The reverse will apply for southbound Route 9A traffic. The village originally planned for periodic street closures from 9:30 a.m. to midnight, but the schedule was abbreviated.http://whiteplains.lohudblogs.com/2012/09/13/the-wolf-of-wall-street-brings-road-closures-to-ardsley/?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter

September 14, 201212 yr Bob Dylan's seemingly endless Titanic song: 4 talking pointsThe 14-minute track on the legendary singer's new album, which includes bizarre references to Leonardo DiCaprio, has many critics scratching their headsBob Dylan's 35th studio album, Tempest, was released this week, earning generally positive reviews for the 71-year-old music legend. But in one odd track, Dylan's famously inscrutable lyrical style has been applied to a surprising new subject: the Titanic. (Listen to the song below.) Tempest features 10 new songs, but critics have zeroed in on the title track, a 14-minute story-song about the ill-fated journey of the Titanic that even includes references to Leonardo DiCaprio: "Leo took his sketchbook/He was often so inclined/He closed his eyes and painted/The scenery in his mind." (Dylan on DiCaprio in an interview with Rolling Stone: "I don't think the song would be the same without him. Or the movie"). Here, four talking points on Dylan's polarizing new Titanic song:1. It's one of Dylan's best songs ever"Tempest" is "one of the most extraordinary compositions from the most acclaimed songwriter of the rock era," says Randy Lewis at the Los Angeles Times. Dylan finds a new take on the familiar Titanic story and "allows the facts to take on a different, deeper resonance than just hearing them dryly recounted." "Tempest" pays homage to the crop of Titanic-themed folk songs that sprung up in the years after the ship sank in 1912, and finds a way to take the story "beyond mere mortal tragedy into the realm of the mythological."2. Actually, it's one of his worst"You'll feel every minute" of Dylan's retelling of the Titanic sinking — and that's not a good thing, says Jim Farber at the New York Daily News. "The essential Titanic tale speaks eloquently of class, cowardice, bravery, and hubris," but Dylan's version of the story, which he sings "without momentum or variation," drags on and on but "adds nothing" to the familiar story. Even for the famously long-winded singer, it's "undisciplined and banal," agrees Jim Fusilli of The Wall Street Journal. And it's not even clear "whether he's discussing the ship sinking or the film about it."3. It's tough to sit through the whole song"Tempest" feels endless — but then again, it took the Titanic nearly three hours to sink, so I guess 14 minutes is reasonable," says David Marchese, who live-blogged his first time listening to the song at Spin. But as "Tempest" drones on, it's almost impossible to stay focused: "When someone writes a 14-minute song, do they expect people to pay attention to the whole thing every time through? Do they think about the listener at all? What should I have for lunch today?"4. Titanic stole from Dylan firstIt's easy to laugh at Dylan's decision to include anachronistic references to James Cameron's 1997 blockbuster, but he's really just returning the favor, says Dan DeLuca at the Philadelphia Inquirer. After all, the James Cameron-penned script "quoted Dylan lyrics such as 'when you got nothing', you got nothing' to lose', even though they were written five decades after the movie was set.Song and article here:http://news.yahoo.com/bob-dylans-seemingly-endless-titanic-song-4-talking-072000671.html

September 14, 201212 yr Thanks Oxford and Leo lover for more pics Now... The "Leo Watch” 'Leo Watch' in Ardsley: Crowds seek glimpse of DiCaprio on movie setIt’s the biggest thing to happen to Ardsley since, well, since ever, if you ask the cluster of onlookers seeking any vantage point — any vantage point — along Saw Mill River Road. They’re on “Leo Watch,” at the filming of “The Wolf of Wall Street,” the latest Martin Scorsese-Leonardo DiCaprio project that this week has turned a sleepy little village into a movie set, and the possibility to glimpse stars Jonah Hill, Matthew McConaughey or DiCaprio. “Leo Watch” looks like a lot of things. On Wednesday night, it made for an exciting back-to-school night at Ardsley Middle School, where the movie’s production trailers are set up. “I heard that some seniors saw him and he waved them over and they got pictures with him,” said Linda Aaronson of Ardsley, who got a glimpse of Scorsese and Hill at the middle school, and a quick shot of DiCaprio getting into his SUV. Aaronson said she wished the stars would shmooze a bit more with on-lookers. Another fan complained that the production’s massive bus was spewing fumes. “Leo Watch” also looks like traffic clogging Saw Mill River Road, where street closures have been intermittent. Today, though, the tieups might be longer, as director Scorsese films exterior scenes, with vintage 1980s cars lining Ardsley’s main drag. Thursday afternoon, a school bus snaked its way down Saw Mill River Road and the kids on board chanted, “Leo! Leo! Leo!” But Leo wasn’t on the set at the time. That is the big question in Ardsley these days: “Is he here?” The movie, about a stockbroker who refuses to cooperate in a large securities fraud case involving the mob, is being shot inside an old Gulf gas station thathad has been vacant for 15 years. Thursday, a makeshift Wall Street trading floor was set up inside, filled with sharp-dressed extras who wave and chat with the crowds kept at a distance by Ardsley’s finest. Alison Giangrasso of Dobbs Ferry said word about when best to see DiCaprio travels fast, “especially when the movie people come in to get coffee and sandwiches and the kids behind the counters hear what they’re saying.” “It’s a traffic nightmare, but it’s exciting,” she said. “Everyone wants to do a little Leo watch.” A knot of Ardsley eighth-graders — Payton, Elena, Elizabeth and Nandini, who were on a first-name basis only — came straight from school to stake out the movie set. Elena and Elizabeth were back for seconds. They had seen DiCaprio on Wednesday night. “Leonardo waved AT us,” Elena gushed. “Yeah, AT us!” Elizabeth echoed, adding, without taking a breath: “We waved and he waved right AT us and we were in the front row and it was freaking awesome. Sorry, I’m a really hyper person.” Alexa Singer, 15, a sophomore at Ardsley High School, gave the best reason she could for her personal “Leo Watch.” “This never happens in Ardsley,” she says. “This is a small town.” Walter Sedovic, an Bronxville architect with an office in Irvington, decided to walk his dog, Kobe, near the movie set. “I always get enchanted to see what kind of transformations occur on a movie set and I know that Leonardo DiCaprio gets deeply into these characters and the mindset you have to get into.” Larissa Decoigne, also of Dobbs, says she heard today might be the best day for autographs, since the shoot will be wrapping up. She was on “Leo Watch” for nearly five hours on Wednesday, and did see the star — briefly. “Basically, you’d see them get out of their car and walk in. That was it,” she said. Across the street from the set, Edgemont’s Jena Finn’s “Leo Watch” is different. She isn’t there to see the stars; she wants to be seen by them. Finn talks to any production assistant she can — they’re the ones with the walkie-talkies — trying to get her acting headshot and resume in the hands of someone who’ll take notice. She missed seeing Scorsese when she popped into the deli to grab a Snapple just as the director arrived. The name of the deli? Stars. While waiting to see the stars, Juliana D’Aliso, 22, and her friends, Kelly Longworth, 23, and Danielle Franciosa, 22, chatted up some of the extras. D’Aliso told one: “You look like Christian Bale, except younger and cuter.” D’Aliso, Longworth and Franciosa said they’d be back on “Leo Watch” today. “It’s cool that they chose Ardsley,” Franciosa said. “Even if I don’t see anybody, this whole production is cool.” Joe Zeolla, whose Ardsley Hardware store is across the street from all the action, says traffic tieups have meant the closure of Saw Mill River Road and affected his business. The tieups aren’t good for the village’s merchants, he said, “but the excitement it generates — the buzz — is positive.” Still, the affable Zeolla, who acts in local theater productions, is taking it in stride. “The production company is great. They’re all professionals, they’re doing things well,” he said. Traffic is likely to be snarled in Ardsley today, back up a long way from the set. If it backs up a half mile, it’ll reach Revolutionary Road, which was the title of a 2008 film starring you-know-who.
