Michael* Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 How can a side with so much going for it be so dull to watch? Credit to Chelsea for winning and being top of the league and all that, but they're every bit as stodgy and conservative as George Graham's Arsenal were back in the day. Fitting analogy considering it takes a few grams of cocaine, a bottle of whiskey and a brown envelope filled with cash to enjoy a Moronho master class. I probably should have seen it coming when they started a 37-year-old as a lone striker, but I honestly expected a bit of a ding-dong from the game. Seeing a team that half way through the season were being touted as one of the very best of the Premier League era now almost apologetically limping towards the title is odd and disappointing. Quote
SympathysSilhouette Posted April 17, 2015 Posted April 17, 2015 So I guess after the 0-0 at home, our Europa League adventures will soon be over. Sigh. Quote
Michael* Posted April 17, 2015 Posted April 17, 2015 The King is dead, long live the King.Desperately hoping that he doesn't end up at Anfield, I'd really rather avoid the barrage of hideous Kop/Klopp puns that would surely ensue. :yuckky: Quote
SympathysSilhouette Posted April 19, 2015 Posted April 19, 2015 Villa to the Cup Final. Another Benteke goal.Stevie G largely anonymous in his final FA cup appearance. Quote
Michael* Posted April 20, 2015 Posted April 20, 2015 So, no birthday FA Cup final appearance for Gerrard after all, he and Allen were quite simply overpowered and outclassed by Delph and Grealish in the midfield. Someone at Liverpool will have to organise some gift vouchers or perhaps a gold watch for him instead. Quote
Frederick Posted April 20, 2015 Posted April 20, 2015 May 30th is Libor Kozak's birthday. Meant to be. Quote
SoniaFielders Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 I like football and soccer. I enrolled my 2 young daughters in soccer class and they are doing good. They were already joined the competition last summer. Quote
Michael* Posted April 23, 2015 Posted April 23, 2015 Ronaldo passing to a teammate in the penalty box, I've seen it all now. Quote
SympathysSilhouette Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 Well, our European adventure was nice whilst it lasted.Back to reality. Quote
Michael* Posted April 25, 2015 Posted April 25, 2015 Commiserations, Hervé. Young Oulare looks a real prospect, another Belgian with an incredible future. The recent disdain shown for the Europa League by Mauricio Pochettino annoyed me on so many levels. Looking at the teams in the semi finals this year, you'd have to say at least three of them would be tremendously exciting to play against. Doubly so, I would have thought, when the alternative is getting barbecued in the Champions League's group stages. Quote
SympathysSilhouette Posted April 25, 2015 Posted April 25, 2015 Commiserations, Hervé. Young Oulare looks a real prospect, another Belgian with an incredible future. Yeah, I fear we might already lose him this Summer, though Oulare himself has expressed the desire to stay at least one more season. *fingers crossed* Quote
Michael* Posted April 25, 2015 Posted April 25, 2015 I don't mean to alarm anyone, but we appeared to be playing actual football at times today. A hard-fought point that could easily have been all three. Results elsewhere didn't exactly go according to plan, but we've no control over that. It's all about what we do in these next two home games. Beat Leicester and it's right back in our hands (as long as we're still within touching distance by then), lose and we're hanging by a thread. Frederick Posted April 27, 2015 Posted April 27, 2015 Someone's Carv-er-ing out (surely Carver Out? - ed) a pretty hilarious run of results for themselves, as predicted by everyone with an IQ above Alan Shearer's (so everyone? - ed). Quote
Frederick Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 Pep and the boys breaking new ground with a very special quadruple! Quote
Michael* Posted April 29, 2015 Posted April 29, 2015 Gundogan is brilliant, his ability to accurately pass under pressure is simply wonderful. If Pep's gang go out against Barca, it leaves him with just the league instead of that much sought-after treble. Not exactly 'next level' stuff. Quote
Michael* Posted April 29, 2015 Posted April 29, 2015 Someone's Carv-er-ing out (surely Carver Out? - ed) a pretty hilarious run of results for themselves, as predicted by everyone with an IQ above Alan Shearer's (so everyone? - ed). Carver always was a bit of a curious case. He's been at Newcastle for some time now and is obviously more qualified than most, but his attitude somehow remains that of the textbook pub loudmouth. If ever there was someone in football who looks like he'd call one of those radio phone-in shows to howl about the state of his club, it's him. And most bizarrely of all, you still wouldn't rule out the possibility of Ashley handing him the job next season. Quote
Frederick Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 Whatever you do, do NOT spill Nigel Pearson's pint and for God's sake remember that he wants ready salted, NOT cheese and onion! Quote
Michael* Posted May 3, 2015 Posted May 3, 2015 We’ve spent so long thinking that our fate is in our own hands that we simply hadn’t considered Leicester doing the unthinkable and doing what we’ve spectacularly failed to do all season. Thankfully the Lads produced a performance high on guts yesterday, and with just enough quality to run out deserved winners. Dick's record is starting to look reasonably decent, with two wins and a draw out of five. Still in the relegation zone, but at long last we seem to be putting a bit of form together. Where there's life, there's hope, and various other cliches! Quote
