Yup, "modest amibitions". I think that it accurately describes their spirit for Season 1. I'm sure they'll be more ambitious for Season 2, because this is the way!

Yes, I see what you mean and I agree for the most part. I think they were a bit cautious, shy even, when they decided to make this show, unsure of how it would be received by the audience. They took the interesting approach where every episode has its own story (with specific new characters), and, where there's also a common thread. The main problem is, as you said, that the common thread is a bit weak (too simple). I'm sure (or, at least, I hope) that season 2 will have a more complex plot. Many people told Favreau about it and he usually listens to feedback.

Remnant: From the Ashes is an action role-playing third person shooter developed by Gunfire Games. It was released for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on August 20, 2019. Remnant is definitely a "Souls like game", but rather than simply being melee combat, it incorporates a third person shooter element where the player can wield up to two gun weapons, one main weapon and one side arm, alongside their melee weapon.
@Matt! I finally bought Remnant: from the ashes. Great game It has a couple of minor flaws (it's from an indie studio), but very very enjoyable. I like the gameplay, very original. I like that it's not just melee weapons like many "Souls like" games. The game can be challenging at times, but the fact that you can do ranged attacks makes it much more forgiving that a pure "Souls like" game (like Sekiro).
Drugs and plastic surgery. BTW, drugs in your country are a real epidemic: death toll of around 70k per year. Men are the biggest victims (probably due to existential crisis problems) but a lot of women are victims as well.
