@Matt! This is really eye-opening interview (with historian who wrote a book about Hitler's drug abuse throughout his career). No wonder he has insane energy in speeches and turned into a physical wreck in the bunker by may 1945. His thinking/decisions became more and more degenerate as he was losing the war. It makes me wonder if Trump is on drugs when he does his Hitler-like rallies. So much energy and he is different then when he is giving press conferences. The MAGA accused zombie Biden to be on drugs but so far nobody has wondered if Trump is on them when he needs to be. His tweets/thinking are similarly deranged much of the time.

The first avatar became a hit because of the 3D tech and the CGI hype about it being the most advanced of its type. But after breaking box office records it had no cultural impact- people forgot about it in a week. The success of the second film completely surprised me but overall it seems like it does well because it is extremely successful internationally - eg. people from China go see it etc. So it is kind of a generic global product that seems to work across world demographics. I thought the first movie had good cgi but the characters/acting/story were mediocre.

finished watching the metal gear solid portable ops, the follow up to MGS3 for the first time. It came out about 17 yrs ago and I missed it because it came out on PSP. The story is better than the one in peace walker because it's the most relevant story arc about what influenced Big Boss to create outer heaven. But I find the story underdeveloped with tons of unexploited potential. I'm convinced now that Kojima is the GRRM of gaming. Both PSP titles show that he exhausted his best ideas in MGS 1, 2, 3, 4. The first 3 were masterpieces but 4 was a bit excessive. In a way "Outer Heaven" is the "Winds of Winter" of the franchise. Underwhelming stuff once its revealed in MGS PSP despite the vast hype and potential throughout the series.
