@SympathysSilhouette what do you think of dance with dragons and feast for crows? The books, while mildly entertaining, seems to be a bit of a failure to me as part of a saga. To be honest I am rather disappointed with the final two books. I originally started reading it to create my own ending for the saga and to 'make peace' with the unfinished story. But the content in 4 and 5 are like a collection of thin reeds to me. They are not well developed enough to develop a final act from. I think GRRM dropped the ball here in these two books. I'm thinking that the 'real' Song of Ice and Fire is largely contained in Books 1-3. So the book can actually end after the Red & Purple Weddings and Tywin's end. The threads that move on beyond that are too undeveloped to build a final act for the saga. Season of Storms ends in a devastating manner, a really nihilistic and cautionary end with several key characters killed off while just in the middle of their character arc while the rest are still 'stuck' in the beginning/middle as well. So the reader could just come up with a preferred epilogue for all the characters based on what we know from 4, 5 and the show. No final act, just a bunch of final thoughts on what the fate of the survivors will be.

I think Madison Headrick is basically Triss but with blonde hair. Dye her hair red and she's Triss. Even talks like her. She is from North Carolina. I highly recommend the books as I have written here in the past. Unlike Game of Thrones, the Witcher books are good from beginning to end and frankly feel longer than GOT because so much happens. And there is more psychological depth in Sapkowski's writing than GRRM. So the main characters (Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri) are better than any of the GOT characters. The audiobooks for the Witcher should be free on youtube. They keep on getting uploaded there. I just downloaded them all and went through them in that way. The books provide a satisfying ending as well. But CDPR made the whole franchise even better by rebooting the story and continuing where Sapkowski left off. After the books, the games are heavily influenced by nearly everything in the novels so people can enjoy them all over again and see things differently and pick up where the myriad book references (in the world building, hundreds of characters, dialogue etc) are coming from. Blood and Wine is a perfect final adventure and most of the fanmade 'Farewell to the White' wolf is satisfying epilogue that connects both books and games. For me it's the best franchise ever due to all these immense components coming together. (books, music, games).

It seems to be this way (not just woke thing ruining the show/film but also in terms of business circumstances) for so many great franchises that are in development pause. Fallout looks to be dead. Metal Gear Solid, one of my top 5 favorite franchises has been dead since 2015. Bioshock franchise is dead. I am in the final hours of "A Song of Ice and Fire". I am realizing that the author/showrunners were literally stuck in the early 2010s, and couldn't write their way into a worthy final act.

Have you seen the original Avatar? It was a mediocre film with outstanding special effects. It was considered forgettable by audiences although it was the biggest grossing movie of all time. COVID-19 damaged the movie industry and since then nobody really cared about the Avatar franchise since 2009. IMHO I found the characters to be creepy and I can't be the only person who thinks this way. The second film's reviews revealed that the movie has the same general pattern of being OK but with CGI as the main draw. So far the film is poised to be in the top 10 grossing films of all time.

Avatar 2 is actually doing well in the box office, and will surpass Top Gun 2 soon. I guess they had good marketing & sales analytics that went against common sense logic. In this case common sense was wrong.

These reputation attacks are classic moves, that women can do while men can't. Because if men do that they look like a bitch and it'll backfire on them lol. Women have more flexibility in this area. Where were these people when HC was actively working on the show? They had to wait until he left to attack him. The silver lining behind this drama is that maybe the show will fail after Season 4 and the rights will be sold to a better company & better director. Then they will realize that they might as well make the Witcher 3 show as that's what most fans want anyway... one can dream
