I also bought a Costco Tuexdo cake. This is a common item there and available all year round. It is $17.
Overall I was a bit disappointed with it after reading/watching reviews by Costco shrills.
I was hoping that it was as good as a cake from an italian bakery but it was significantly below those standards. But still pretty good. I would give chocolate mousse cake at my local bakery a 5 out of 5. This Costco cake is about a 3.7 out of 5 in comparison.
The mildly sweet cake has a very thin layer of fudge on top- way too thin, 2 layers of good dark chocolate cake, one layer of cannoli cream, and one layer of chocolate mousse with brownie bits. I think the main issue with the cake is the inadequate flavor, I was hoping that it packed more of a punch.
The dark chocolate portions are adequate but the chocolate mousse/fudge is way too little. The cannoli cream should not be a part of the cake in my view as it doesn't blend well with the rest of the cake. I would have liked the cake more if they used a lot more fudge on top, removed the cannoli cream and replaced it with more chocolate mousse.
