  6. Agreed. The negative goodreads reviews by feminist women are insightful to understanding why the Netflix writers found the series 'problematic' and had to change it dramatically and also make it even more female centric than it already was.

  8. @SympathysSilhouette @Enrico_sw I am looking at the reviews for the Witcher novels and it's interesting to see that there are some (typically young) females thinking that the books are too 'male centric' and misogynist. A lot of them mention the Netflix show. Yet there are many, and more women that love the books. The Last Wish (The Witcher, #0.5) by Andrzej Sapkowski | Goodreads It goes to show why the Netflix showrunners had to 'change' the story. There is some sort of cultural/generational gap going on. To me the books' approach to women were 1990s-era feminist and just the right balance for me. But for this era's feminists the books are too weak in feminism and some even say that it is misogynist.

  10. Now that I'm done, my personal ratings of the novels: Lord of the Rings 3.7 out of 5 Hobbit 3 out of 5 Game of Thrones 4 out of 5 Witcher 4.7 out of 5 My rating for LOTR books are probably blasphemous for many.
