"It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair, we had everything before us, we had nothing before us, we were all going direct to Heaven, we were all going direct the other way— in short, the period was so far like the present period, that some of its noisiest authorities insisted on its being received, for good or for evil, in the superlative degree of comparison only." “I see a beautiful city and a brilliant people rising from this abyss. I see the lives for which I lay down my life, peaceful, useful, prosperous and happy. I see that I hold a sanctuary in their hearts, and in the hearts of their descendants, generations hence. It is a far, far better thing that I do, than I have ever done; it is a far, far better rest that I go to than I have ever known.” ― Charles Dickens, A Tale of Two Cities

  5. I haven't had interest in Tiktok yet. I only know through research that is strongly focused on keywords. I take it that you don't like tiktok? I find myself uninterested in it because there is no control over the content. The algorithm just recommends stuff that it thinks you may like. I am a person who doesn't like watching TV and often doesn't like to watch most things from beginning to end as I get very impatient. I want to control my experience and leave when I've had enough. I was trying to use it for advertising (info-mercial) but over the past week it hasn't really worked.
  6. I tried putting a couple videos (with hashtags) on tiktok and got very few views. (avg only 10 each)

  8. My main issue isn't the feminist heroes' journey but why should I spend my time to watch it when I don't relate to it? I think a lot of the male audience feels the same way. Besides if they have a female supervisor/boss there is enough 'empowerment' on a daily basis. It's enough.. I do think that the traditional heroes' journey is more male oriented and deals with more male issues than female. The Witcher's journey is not just a heroes' journey but a wisdom quest and a quest for wholeness combined. To me that is superior to a heroes' journey by itself. I don't know of any other franchise that has all three combined, usually they only have one. Ciri's story in the novels/games is a female heroes' journey. The Nolan Batman films are great to me as they are a heroes' journey combined with a wholeness quest.
  9. A bit related to this but I noticed that India seems to have a trend of 'nationalism' (not only their leader but a portion of the population think that India can become a superpower) and there is a small tension between China & India, a rather mutual contempt/annoyance at each other.

I would watch Gossip Girl but only the Blake Lively parts
  17. her shorts are really sexy & cute, it is evident that she makes money off of men talking dirty with her lol.
  18. Variations of the basic model fits with a lot of religions and myths, and also great classical works like Dante's Divine Comedy. I think it also works well because it can be squeezed into a film format. The heroes journey has been criticized by feminists and they have their own heroes, journey, for feminists. I wouldn't be surprised if this Ashoka show used it. A major reason why I like the Witcher so much is that it has an extremely sophisticated version of the heroes' journey.
  19. Halfway done with Anna Karenina. I find myself dozing off a lot and bored in the middle segment of the story. Fundamentally the novel is about adultery and all its interpersonal consequences.
