I do think the swim special is at the centre of this. I think Bellemere was referring to that shoot with the comment about 200 people. Lais’ account of the situation fits the swim special – they were at a party in St. Barts in the Caribbean after a rehearsal and Bellemere seemed drunk. The rehearsal could have been for the artists’ performances. I don’t see any need for parties and rehearsals with an ordinary swim shoot. Add to that Lais’ minuscule screen time in the TV special and not being included in the group Vogue cover that became after the swim special.

Maybe the Marie Claire author is not good at English. The time-line should be something like: In fall of 2016, VS cuts ties with Bellemere but does not explain anything to him or his agent. In February 2018, The Globe publishes an article exposing Bellemere and other photographers and industry insiders. VS announces that they are doing a full third-party investigation. In May 2018, Lais reveals that she was one of the Angels who complained about Bellemere’s inappropriate behaviour.

I don’t wanna take anything away from Jasmine getting the Fantasy Bra in 2016 but I wonder if VS had thought about Lais being the first New Angel to get it before problems between Lais and Bellemere occurred.

I’m curious to know how Lais was able to refuse to work with Bellemere without reporting his behaviour to VS at first. Maybe someone at VS realized that VS would have a major lawsuit on their hands if they didn’t renew her contract, so she started to get treated better by the company. It’d be even more ironic if Taylor didn’t report Bellemere to VS but instead went to Lais for support and advice on how to handle him and then Lais reported him.

To me the Marie Claire magazine’s account of the timeline doesn’t come across as totally reliable. The Boston Globe article was published in February 2018. According to The Boston Globe, VS cut ties with Bellemere in the fall of 2016. Thank you for confirming that Lais didn’t report Bellemere until other models had approached her about his inappropriate behaviour. Something shady definitely went down based on the swim special. Lais and Kate G. had close to zero screentime yet Lais is still here. I wonder if VS considered kicking her out due to her refusal to work with their esteemed photographer.

Sara was the one who talked about the importance of having a “connection” and “chemistry” with the photographer while they showed her shooting topless with Bellemere in the swim special. #awkward. No Ruven either ;D
