  1. Interview: https://www.yahoo.com/beauty/sports-illustrated-rookie-barbara-palvin-talks-194315305.html
  2. @Prettyphile Is it of a SI model?
  3. Thank you! Still sounds like a lot of work!
  4. @Prettyphile Hah, you have to post a pic then! (And instructions… )
  5. Has anyone tried these? Looks so delicious!
  6. Such a beautiful face, hair and make up! The shaving cream bikini is underwhelming though… It’s just sort of smeared on her. But she is really confident since there are so many people staring at her when she is practically naked!
  7. When I saw the BTS vid of Barbara, I started to wonder whether Kate could be in the issue especially if it’s supposed to be “classic.”

  9. Aaaah, I loved Ashley’s response at the end for ET!! She has the right kind of sexy attitude!
  10. Good choice to have Barbara promoting the issue via TV interview, SI! By the way, I like it when James Macari shoots the girls. It looks hotter when someone young like him is shooting someone like Nina Agdal. And I like that he is fit enough to wear just swim trunks. I find it awkward when a photographer is covering up on a paradise beach where the girls are in bikinis.
  11. I see this as natural progression from SI. First they hired a model who had slimmed down again, Crystal Renn. Then they picked a model, Robyn Lawley, who is considered plus-sized in the fashion industry. And now for the 2016 issue they cast someone who is genuinely plus-sized. I think that SI is not going to promote Ashley as their token plus-size model. They probably want to send the message that she is an SI model just like any other model who was cast in the issue.
  12. @lostdiadem Yeah, my first reaction was “Get over yourself!” when I read that some swimsuit designers are not happy with how Barbara’s body looks. I don’t know if the designer of the orange bikini was the one complaining but my thought is that any designer is lucky to have their swimsuit featured by SI. There are literally hundreds of bikinis that SI has for photo shoots but only a select few are pictured on a model (let alone get in the magazine). And I’d say that having Barbara wear one of your designs is fortunate because she is one of the most popular models in the issue so whatever she wears is going to get more exposure. @Clauds Good call! Loved Alyssa Miller and Nina Agdal being SI besties. Barbara and Nina’s silly personalities could match very well.
  13. When I saw that Robyn was identified as the one wearing a green suit in one of the teaser pics, I thought that she is not going to be invited to be part of the issue next year because the thing that made her special to the people at SI i.e. being “plus-sized” is gone. Now she is just a really tall model. Sure, she is probably bigger than most girls in the issue but it doesn’t really matter since her body is so much more toned now.
  14. So there was at least one surprise in the line-up i.e. a fifth rookie. I would need to see a full body shot to determine whether she is right for the issue but so far looks surprisingly good. Even though I think it’s important to feature models who are athletic and in the best shape of their lives because it is Sports Illustrated, I think it’s good to have variety i.e. different body types.
  15. Chanel Iman kind of counts?
  16. Thanks for the video, @Candylicious.! The way Candice talked about making sure that she is the swim girl and hoping to get the cover makes me wonder why she hasn’t done SI like Lily has. It seems like shooting for SI would be right up her alley. Getting the cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue is arguably a bigger deal than getting the cover of Victoria’s Secret’s swim catalogue.
  17. @Prettyphile Okay I thought that you might have some swimsuit designer as a friend who would have an in with SI and the designer would not be happy that Barbara was chosen to wear one of their suits since you wrote earlier:
  18. @Prettyphile Are you saying that the designer of this swimsuit: http://www.swimwearworld.com/pilyq-bikini-omni-omn-170b-omn-270-550-490.html is not happy that Barbara is the one who is modelling the swimsuit?
  19. No one can deny that face. I think that Barbara will be popular among SI readers. Men tend not to be so concerned with whether or not someone has a super toned body.
  20. So happy she got that as her location. I think that tropical paradises like Turks and Caicos and Bora Bora tend to work out great. Malta could be a great location too but I dunno if they were able to work the Mediterranean feel to its full potential.
  21. Perfect for SI! I knew it!
  22. I hear that sometimes models get paid in trade i.e. they get to keep the clothes they wore on the runway but even that is not always the case because the designers might need the clothes after the show for photo shoots. It’s considered an honour to walk for a high fashion designer during Paris Fashion Week etc. The models hope that the designer will then book them to be a face of the brand.
  23. My understanding is that models don’t usually get paid for editorials or runway shows or they get paid very little. (Only big name models can earn a lot doing runway shows.) Being on the cover of a magazine or walking for a designer or shooting an editorial is great exposure so the idea is that you might get noticed from that and get booked for a campaign. Campaigns pay very well. However, I don’t know if the models get paid to attend SI events or to promote the issue.
  24. Brooklyn Decker explains why you don’t get paid to do Sports Illustrated:
  25. ^ Yes, there were great girls that year like Petra, Heidi, Josie… I might be out of line for saying this but when I saw that TMZ video that was posted here earlier, I was in disbelief that someone would actually act like that and then I couldn’t help but think that she might have been abused as a child and that’s why she craves any sort of attention to the point that she thanks a creep for filming her ass at a parking lot (“Thaaaank you so much”)
