But to give credit to Maxim, it seems that this time they don’t even try to make it sound like the readers voted for her.

Wouldn’t VS want to track which colours are more popular? So again each model gets the credit for what they “sold.” A trickier situation is of course one where two models are pictured wearing the same item but one of the models is shown only from the back.

I would assume that they track each individual catalogue picture so why would it matter if the same item is pictured twice on the same page?

Why would they have to do that? They have probably assigned a unique number to each picture and know who the model is in every picture. So they can tell if e.g. picture A of a bra sells better than picture B of the same bra. That could then sometimes allow them to draw conclusions that the model in picture A sells better than others.

Does anyone have examples of what might have been the “ugly shit” VS had Erin wear to move product? These ensembles look a bit suspect:

@brunoexclusive You’re welcome! it’d be interesting to hear if the requirements for being an Angel changed now that apparel etc., will be cut completely. Perhaps there have been models who were signed as Angels partly because they wore the clothing really well no matter how weird or ugly the clothes might have been in real life. Now that everyone is going to be wearing just lingerie, it can make the competition tougher because there are less ways to differentiate oneself from the rest. Basically, modelling for VS’ online store calls for just the ability to sell all kinds of underwear and sleepwear: plain everyday stuff, cute stuff, more elaborate lingerie as well as racier pieces, sports bras and shapewear. The trouble is that many of the current Angels have very similar body types. Tyra sold the most panties and I believe that was because she had the biggest booty so customers felt that what looked good on Tyra would be more likely to look good on them as well.

In a recent podcast, Erin was asked is there competition over who gets a cuter outfit because VS counts how much each girl sells. Erin said, “I sell ugly shit really well.” She told that they always left the hardest stuff for her because she was so good at selling it. She enjoyed the challenge of wearing something weird whereas she felt overpowered by an overtly sexy outfit. I understand that digital marketing is key now but I do think that cutting print catalogues entirely is a bit of bad news for the Angels. I believe that the catalogues reaching so many households is one of the main things that made being a Victoria’s Secret Angel such a big deal. It wasn’t just the annual televised fashion shows but the exposure one would get being on the cover of a catalogue etc.

Adriana looks great! I don’t have any problem with her shooting for VSX. She actually trains hard so the shoot is more believable than it would be with some of the other girls.

I wonder what was the idea behind the Swim specials. Just increasing brand awareness? It seemed like they were planning on making the Swim special an annual thing much like the fashion show. How recent is this development to eliminate Swim? Perhaps Victoria’s Secret had made a deal with the network for two shows so even when they knew that Swim would be cut, they were contractually obligated to shoot another special.
