I mean it's not THAT BAD news. We still have military on the streets. Only yesterday the tone of the government changed a little into at least trying to propose some solutions. It's something but it doesn't really go to the bottom of the issue. Another thing people are claiming is for an important change in the cabinet, but there isn't till now any intentions in doing that. Also quite a number of people want the president to resign but that is veeery unlikely to happen.

No. We are under state of emergency, not martial law. Still not good though... Today there's curfew again in Santiago from 10 PM till 4 AM. Valparaíso is under curfew already.

No, no attempted coups but protests keep on mobilizing more and more people and they are nationwide. Today will be the 5th day under curfew in Santiago. 2nd and 3rd day in most major cities...

Maybe... Thank you! There's protests everywhere and all over the country; the vast majority of these being peaceful. And there's also State of Emergency in effect in over half of the country and curfew in most big cities. It has also been chaotic, mostly during the weekend, with lots of plundered and burned places and metro stations that got pretty much destroyed. Yes, it brings back terrible memories since the last time there was curfew (not including a couple of big natural disasters) it was under military dictatorship. I luckily didn't live through that but I never though I would live something like this in democracy...

And curfew today from 7 PM to 6 AM tomorrow

Yeah, it did... And now with the curfew I'm afraid things will get ugly(ier). The rise on the public transport ticket was announced this evening to be revoked. Just a little late... But the ticket's rise is only the tip of the iceberg of much bigger issues.
