Yasmin is going to walk for Gail Elliott @ Australian Fashion Week Yasmin Le Bon for RAFW 2011 www.harpersbazaar.com.au Yasmin Le Bon dominated the eighties as one of the era’s finest examples of a supermodel breed. Yet as the ‘mother of three and the face of two decades’ implies, Le Bon has had an unwavering career throughout her years that has seen her retain somewhat of a legendary status in fashion’s hall of fame. As a long-time friend of former top model-cum-designer Gail Elliott (co-founder of Little Joe Woman), it has just been revealed that Le Bon will make her way to the runway for the label’s SS 11 show, exclusively for this year’s Rosemount Australian Fashion Week. Titled Exile in Spring, the collection will be held onsite at RAFW on Tuesday, 3 May at 12pm. The Iranian/British model is the first international guest announced as part of the industry event, which will take place 2-6 May 2011. “Yasmin has been one of my closest friends for 25 years and has always been so supportive of me and our brand Little Joe Woman. She and Cindy (Crawford) were shot on location in a photo of the three of us wearing my first ever samples and it was that photo that launched the line. As such a stylish woman who is able to choose to wear labels from any of the world’s major designers she still models for, it’s amazing that she can take the time to come to Sydney for LJW and RAFW…” says Elliott. Le Bon certainly proves RAFW can lure some serious high calibre talent to our shores. The 46-year-old has been photographed for the likes of Mario Testino, Horst P and Steven Meisel; featured on both covers of the first American and British Elle magazines; fronted campaigns for YSL, Lagerfeld, CK and Missoni and has appeared on the pages of a string of international fashion magazines. She’s also married to Duran Duran's Simon Le Bon of 25 years and has three girls.

Naturally my interest in his career stems from the fact that he is one of us, out there making a name for himself in modeling. Along the way he has accumulated a wonderful collection for his portfolio and has done campaigns for H&M and Gant among others. Naude currently resides in Brooklyn Heights, New York. I caught up with him this week to find out more: 1.JACQUES, WE'RE SEEING A LOT OF YOU LATELY. HOW HAS YOUR CAREER BEEN GOING? ANY CHANGES? Yeah the fashion world's been really good to me. I've travelled the world, dined with some interesting characters, definitely opened up many doors that i'm very appreciative of. Not many changes, just going with the flow. 2. YOU ARE A SOUTH AFRICAN BOY, ONE OF MANY WHO HAVE GONE TO NEW YORK OR EUROPE TO PURSUE MODELING. DO YOU SEE A LOT OF OUR BOYS THERE? Funny thing, there aren't many Saffa boys out here that i know of. I've run into a couple in Europe. Its not like the days of Shaun DeWet and Damien van Zyl. 3. HOW WERE YOU DISCOVERED? By a good friend, Marlon Stoltzman, i used to come over to NY for two-three months of the year on study leave...I was couch hopping, having fun, experiencing the city. I was broke, and Marlon suggested that i should go and see IMG. It all started from there. 4. A LOT OF MODELS I COME ACROSS HAVE OTHER JOBS/INTERESTS. WHAT ARE YOURS?. I've always been inspired by photography and film-making. I graduated from the Red & Yelow school as an Art Director. I'm obsessed with the late Alexi Brodovitch. 5. WHAT HAS MODELING TAUGHT YOU ABOUT YOURSELF? Not to take myself too seriously . 6. FAVORITE DESIGNER? Yves Saint-Laurent. Not yet. 7. WHAT DOES YOUR WARDROBE CONSIST OF? Vintage and designer trade.
