But anyway, happy Jim White day, everybody! I fear for the life of the SSN Merseyside correspondent currently being surrounded by a large group of 14-year-old hoodies, it's very reminiscent of the scene from 'Shaun of the Dead' where Dylan Moran gets killed. -
A performance with all the hallmarks of the limp surrenders during the second half of last season that ended up costing Martin O’Neill his job. That we still have to resort to a Larsson/Vaughan midfield pairing after making twelve summer signings is, quite simply, terrifying. Massive improvement and/or deadline day blitz urgently required.

^ There may be another three weeks to go until it officially lands but evidently, GTA V has already gone gold. Also, a recent gaffe by Sony has apparently allowed folks who pre-ordered the game via the European PlayStation Store to get hold of some spoileriffic information, which Rockstar are none too thrilled about...

A lot of people online are making comparisons between the reaction to this and Heath Ledger being cast as the Joker, but most seem to be missing the point. Ledger was a young guy in the process of breaking out from doing mostly teen flicks, and whose potential hadn't yet been fully realised. Affleck is 40-something and has already shown everything he brings to the table as an actor. The odds of him 'knocking one out of the park' with a surprisingly brilliant performance are going to be much lower, and unless Snyder is planning to make Wayne into a blue-collar guy from Boston, a white-collar guy from Boston or a career criminal from Boston, it’s highly unlikely that this role will play to his strengths.
