Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
I gave it a watch. Probably safe to say that the world is not in desperate need of another TV series about people who investigate things, but I do think it has potential, with some interesting ideas that could be fun to see develop. Hopefully the characters gain some depth in the near future, most feel a bit one-dimensional at the moment.

Music of 2013
^It got off to a bit of a rocky start, she was onstage solo and one of her two acoustic guitars cut out completely towards the end of the first number - which wouldn't normally be that big of a deal, except that her tuner pedal gave up the ghost shortly afterwards too. Thus, she ended up playing a partially improvised and slightly haphazard set, with extended breaks for emergency tunings between songs. Her voice always shines through though, it's absolutely timeless. I won't hesitate to go and see her for a third time should the chance arise.

Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
It kicks off tomorrow in the UK. I'm hearing that it's set after the Avengers movie, which for obvious reasons seems at odds with their making Phil the lead character. I'm on board though, at least for the time being.

Epic/preposterous (delete as appropriate) Kanye West interview with Radio 1's Zane Lowe. Example quote: 'My Truman Show boat has hit the painting'.

Yeah, I saw her about 18 months ago when she was touring the last album. Easily one of my top 10 gigs of all time. A guy called Nick Mulvey is supporting this time around, so I'm guessing that means no Marika. Perhaps unsurprisingly, he's a singer/songwriter of the alt-folk variety, though I can't claim to be familiar with his work.

Too old? The 64-year-old Samuel L. Jackson and the 48-year-old Robert Downey may disagree.

Now that's an appointment I could get excited about, although quite honestly it's difficult now to picture a manager worth his salt viewing the Sunderland job as anything other than a poisoned chalice. Whatever happens, I just hope a little more thought is put into the decision this time, rather than simply seeing who Roberto De Fanti is mates with.

It's looking like Kevin Ball will be in charge for at least the Peterborough and Liverpool games. A big ask, but there's a lot of trust without much expectation. Long term, although I don't consider myself his biggest fan, I think Di Matteo is probably the closest thing we have to a safe option at the moment. Either that or we wait a couple of weeks until David Moyes is available. Whoever it ends up being will be facing an uphill struggle though, that's for sure. Extreme short-sightedness is becoming the norm at the SoL and given that our next realistic chance of a home win is in December, I'd have to say it's questionable whether the new man will even see out 2013.

Sessegnon probably won't turn in another performance like that for months, but Di Canio must have been the only person in football who didn't think he'd be motivated today. Clearly, we were nowhere near ready to hit the ground running at the start of the season and evidently, we're still not. Too many new signings, too many (albeit underperforming) players ostracised, too few pre-season friendlies and too much chopping and changing in games. Liverpool next up. If I can bring myself to go, I'll be taking 44 beach balls.

Grand Theft Auto
It is rather easier to get yourself killed in this one, I must say. In terms of storyline progress, I'm still not very far at all, as I've spent most of my time exploring. As always, I love the little sidelines Rockstar adds to their games. It would have been so easy just to tack on a couple of half-arsed sports simulations, but the golf and tennis are actually a lot of fun.

Grand Theft Auto
Only really scratching the surface at the moment, but it's definitely a winner so far. The storyline and voice acting are among the best I've ever encountered, and the map is indeed ridiculously colossal. Already been eaten by a mountain lion, too.

^RVP seems to be losing his rag at least once per game these days. I personally feel an apathy attack coming on whenever I see Cleverley, Carrick, Young and Valencia play, but I suppose it's a bit different when they're your teammates.
