I simply could not agree more, Lyle. The personality she projected in her photos was just so appealing. The most piquant of Victoria's Secret beauties, and also the most beautiful brunette. It is not just a shame, but a sin that she is not more widely known.

By any chance, do you have a scan of Lorri Bagley with her hair big and somewhat poufy, wearing a yellow bra and matching panties which are kind of triangle-shaped and high-cut, hands resting on the front of her thighs? It's hands-down my favorite shot of her.

1988 was her scorching Herb RItts Playboy shoot, mmm. I think she was at her most beautiful during the earlier, happier years with Gere, when she was utterly radiant and impossibly beautiful - the Cindy Crawford of Cindy Crawford, if that makes any sense. She was The Most Beautiful Woman in the World back then. Anyone who has another candidate in mind will have to name names and post proof.

I've definitely seen pictures in which Jill was definitely fuller in the face and thighs than most of her shots, and where she's from a fashion-model point of view heavy. Examples below. You're right that she was shorter than some; shorter than Cindy who was 5'9", for example (I'll post some proof soon ). I've recently realized that both she and my other semi-obscure VS fave, Heather Stewart-Whyte, had green eyes, which maybe tells you something. It's the least common eye color, and so cool, I think.

Holland and Czech republic. Always amazed by the number of supermodels that come out of those two small countries. For a completely different look, Lebanon - Yamila Diaz-Rahi (half), Rima Fakih (Miss USA 2010, probably most beautiful Miss USA ever). Since I'm of western European descent, I'm rooting for Holland, but if I'm honest, I'd probably have to go with Czech republic as #1.

I'd have to agree. That was when she was at her peak, peak beauty. Her best shots from back then are just mind-boggling. This leggy one from Mags is a case in point. One of my new favorites:

The white girl: Kerri Claussen. The black girl: Karen Alexander. For some reason, I always thought of Karen as the "WASP-y" black girl, if that makes any sense. (Not that I only like "WASP-y" black women by any means!) She had a unique look; I always found her very appealing. Kerri was pleasant enough to look at, but I kind of thought of her as filler. 90's VS was just so chock-a-block full of uber-beauties.

All the Kartrashians. Send them to hell. Pamela Anderson (at least in her later incarnations). Adriana Lima - Much too over the top in her scowling, pouty-lipped pseudo-sexiness. A brunette Pamela Anderson. Sorry guys, Giselle - Too hawk-faced for me, even though I like aquiline profiles in general Linda Evangelista - Don't like the persona she projects, and her face is too mannish for me. I just dislike her. Tatjiana Patiz - I think mainly women like her, which is fine, but she doesn't do much for me. I don't dislike her, though. Justin Bieber - Duh. Justin Timberlake - Duh again. Britney Spears - and again. Paris Hilton - You gotta me kidding me. No one would look at her twice if she weren't a famous heiress. PLEASE DON'T HATE ME FOR SAYING THIS. Princess Diana. She wasn't beautiful at all, I'm sorry. Nothing special. Boring, boring, she looked like a nursing student or something. People thought of her as beautiful because she was a princess, and princesses are supposed to be beautiful. That's all. I'm sure I can think of more.

Nina Agdal, in a rather Stephanie-esque pose. Most beautiful-looking breasts in most stupid-looking bikini top: They really went for the primary colors this year, didn't they? Not trying to start a war here, but I like Nina's boobs better than Kate's. Just my personal taste.

I have gripes about this issue, but putting Michelle Vawer in fire-engine red bikinis is not one of them. Red on a darker-skinned brunette is always a knock-out: She looks a little Indian (as in India) to me. Crystal Renn is stunning in some photos, but I can't decide if I like her overall: They're using a lot of red on these girls, that's for sure.

Whoa! I mean WHOA! That face! Those boobs - how do they stay up like that! And those abs! Taken in 1965; from a retrospective on her on the NYT website. She was 25 at the time. I've seen a lot of shots of her from later life, and she looked great. Are there more shots of her from her early-mid-20s? I'd love to see them.

Who says sexy is comfortable? It does look like zillions of little pinches all over her curves, which is part of it. Plus, you think of them swiveling and clicking against each other when she moves. SI often has a little mild, harmless erotic Schadenfreude in a shot or two, like pouring ice water down Kathy Ireland's bikini top, or Elle lying with her back arched on the rocks that look so uncomfortable, and doesn't it serves her right for being so beautiful. Though they have chivalrously given her a pillow for her head, which is unexpectedly bright violet: They just don't make 'em like this anymore.
