In my experience, companies that eventually find out it does not work react in one or two ways. Some get rid of some management level staff, usually by reorganizing so they can make an entire level of authority obsolete. Others double down with what I would call the "one more lane fallacy". Like a city trying to fix their traffic jams by repeatedly adding lanes to their highways, these companies think they can solve their inefficiency problems by adding another layer of management. I know of one place which already had three layers between the IT manager and the lowest L1 helpdesk grunts. And after an HR audit they actually added a fourth level in the form of team leaders. Then what the fuck were the guys and girls doing those helpdesk grunts were reporting to before that?

WTF? How did he get such a light sentence? Also I thought most of the 2015 attack guys were dead? Isn't that why the one guy who was caught in Belgium was one of the few who ever got to a court case in France?

I think the ground invasion if it happens will be limited in scope. I don't believe they will be sending many 10Ks of reservists in there. I don't believe Bibi has the stomach for a conflict that might cost them many men. Far more likely is that they keep on bombing Gaza into oblivion, even if it means killing most of the 1+ million children stuck there.

Right but I have seen many MAGA style accounts suddenly argue the isolationist stance for Israel as well. Whilst I don't necessarily agree, it is a far more internally consistent position to oppose U.S. involvement in both Ukraine and Israel than to say that non-intervention should be the norm except for Israel.

It's interesting, the situation in Israel seems to have the Ukraine non-interventionists divided. Half of them argue that what is true about Ukraine is also true about Israel: it's not America's problem. The other half are very mad at this. Whilst their new nemesis are pointing out the inconsistency of their position. I kind of agree. I mean, I don't agree with the non-interventionist position for the U.S. (I would argue that there are conflicts it is in their interest to get involved in), but I can see how it is a valid POV for an American. It is however internally inconsistent to argue non-interventionism for one conflict but not for another. You can't have some sort of cafeteria non-interventionism. "America First! Except for X, Y & Z" is not any sort of real non-interventionism/isolationism.

Musk is not alone in thinking that the overabundance in MBA degrees is ridiculous. The real question is, who created the positions that mean that so many such graduates can find jobs? What is definitely true is that those guys (and girls) are overpaid in general. What I have found after twenty years of experience is that almost any decently sized company or organization will have far too many middle-management roles. Most companies could weed out over half of those out and it wouldn't make any real difference to their productivity and it would save them a bundle in wages.

The book is very good, read it a couple of years ago, very much worth your time if you are interested in the story.- Emily Deyt-Aysage

Hadid sisters finding themselves threatened by official Israeli government accounts for mildly supportive messages towards Palestinians is a bit over the top.- General Celebrity Gossip
I haven't followed much of the Will Smith and Jada drama, mostly because I don't really care that much. Haven't there been many rumors about infidelity in the past though? I definitely remember strong rumors about him cheating on his wife with Margot Robbie when they filmed Focus together.- General Celebrity Gossip
I had totally missed the fact that Jefferson Hack and Anouck Lepere had divorced over a decade ago. A bit deal was made about their marriage at the time.- BZ'ers talking models at the Bar

Watching Mike Flanagan's new show, THE FALL OF THE HOUSE OF USHER. I have seen three episode. So far it's my least favorite of his.- BZ'ers talking models at the Bar

Do you know how much climate change cost Europe in lives and infrastructure costs just in the last few years? It's bonkers to me to find something that is already happening, already costing lives and destroying homes, roads, businesses, ... is deemed less of an issue that some vague and minor threat of nuclear war. A threat that was there for fifty years during the cold war but it was never used an excuse to not care about other stuff.- The Political Correctness Haters' Club
I don't get why this means I should be more worried about nuclear war today than I was yesterday? Putin nuking Ukraine is a hypothetical. One I don't believe will ever become a reality because he cares too much about his own hide and there is no scenario in which he deploys nukes in which he survives. Meanwhile, climate change is already costing lives and billions in infrastructure each and every year. Just this Summer, parts of Greece had the equivalent of a year's worth of rain in Belgium (so not the annual rainfall in much dryer Greece itself) over the course of two days. But apparently you are insane if you say you care more about those real-life costs that are ongoing and ever more costly than some hypothetical notion of nuclear war. Okay. Maybe I should worry about aliens invading too, while I am at it.- The Political Correctness Haters' Club
Okay so what would you put the chance at? Strategically it makes zero sense for Russia to use nukes right now.- The Political Correctness Haters' Club
It is close to 0%. But even if it is higher than that, it isn't already a tangible threat to lives the way climate change is. But I guess those deaths don't count somehow.- The Political Correctness Haters' Club
There are people already dying from climate change. Including in my own country (Belgium). https://www.vrt.be/vrtnws/en/2021/07/18/from-railroads-to-tap-water-the-impact-of-the-floods-is-huge/ And that isn't even taking into consideration the infrastructure costs, which are massive too. The estimates of one billion in this old piece turned out to be laughably low.- The Political Correctness Haters' Club
Well, how many people died in the last year due to extreme weather events caused by global warming and how many died in a nuclear attack? - The "What Are You Thinking About Right Now?" PIP
