After a quick glance at the nominees, it seems likely there will be a number of first time winners this year. Frances McDormand is the most obvious exception I noticed. I have seen five of the best picture nominees and I'm not sure I will see any more. It's rare for me to see all the Best Picture nominees. I was a little surprised that Steven Spielberg and Martin McDonagh were left out of the Best Director category. There are only five places available, so I guess someone if always left out. I can't say I would remove anyone nominated to put them in.

^ To me, an amazing aspect of projections is the significant difference between the high and low numbers. Low projections usually mean one or more of these affect population growth: famine, disease, climate change, world war (among others). City projections can be even more "omg enducing". The projections for cities like Lagos, Dhaka, Kinshasa are particularly impressive.

Zombieland - My least fav part of the movie has always been the Bill Murray part, for obvious reasons. It did make me think of a question, though: If you met someone who didn't know who Bill Murray was, what movie would you have them watch to introduce his work? There are many good answers. In the movie, Columbus picks Ghostbusters. Groundhog Day might be the best combination of his comedic and dramatic acting. That might be my pick, but I'm not certain.

I have noticed the same thing. Also, the models are not always in order. I don't always notice these things any more. I guess I have gotten used to it and adjusted.
