Victoria’s Secret Throwing Out Iconic ‘Angels’ Imagery in Stores as It Closes Hundreds of Locations and Loses Millions Victoria’s Secret is remodeling its stores across the globe and throwing out its iconic “Angels” imagery, hot pink color scheme, and sexy decor as part of its larger rebranding effort — one that’s been criticized as woke and “performative” by former models and included naming women’s soccer player Megan Rapinoe and transgender model Valentina Sampaio brand ambassadors. After canceling its annual fashion show in November 2019, Victoria’s Secret is now erasing the brand’s longtime Angels aesthetic that helped turn supermodels like Heidi Klum, Tyra Banks, Ariana Lima, Alessandra Ambrosio, Karlie Kloss, and Candice Swanepoel into household names. The televised show had become the biggest fashion event of the year with millions tuning in every year since its launch in 1995. A spokesperson for Victoria’s Secret confirmed to the New York Post that the brand is revamping all of its stores and throwing out the Angels in favor of plus-sized mannequins and imagery that reflects real life rather than fantasy. The Post reports: Last May, Victoria’s Secret announced that it would permanently close around 250 stores in the U.S. and Canada in 2020. “It’s parent company L Brands said overall sales for the three months ended May 2 fell 37 percent compared with a year ago. Gross profit fell 59 percent. The company lost $275.2 million in the quarter, compared with net income of $40.3 a year ago. Profits per share were down 807 percent for a loss of 99 cents per share,” Breitbart News reported. Former Victoria’s Secret model Bridget Malcolm made headlines around the world last month when she said the lingerie company’s woke re-branding is “perforative” and a “joke.” Victoria’s Secret CEO Martin Waters is advising store associates of the brand’s rebrand, saying “We are moving from what men want to what women want; We are going from a look to a feeling, from excluding most women to including all women, from mostly unattainable to grounded in real life.” Only three former Angels with Victoria’s Secret will work with the brand moving forward: Models Helena Christensen, Grace Elisabeth, and Taylor Hill. Instead of the Angels, Victoria’s Secret announced this year brand ambassadors soccer player Megan Rapinoe, transgender model Valentina Sampaio, and plus-size model Paloma Elsesser, among a few others.

My parents made the mistake of letting me watch Jaws when I was 3... I ended up peeing the couch during that scene out of fright ... After I saw Jaws sharks became my big passion and as soon as I could read I was at the library almost daily trying to learn every single thing I could about sharks. Then when I was 4 the San Fransisco Academy of Sciences successfully had a Great White shark in it's roundabout and I got to go see it! My mom and I went at least 3 times just so I could see it up close and personal and at 16 my dad and I did Great White Shark Cage diving in the Farallon Island..... it was heaven! Growing up we also would drive out to Tomales Bay to see the big females give birth in the shallow water. Water is not deep there ^^ Every year without fail they would come back and it wouldn't be uncommon for them to be no more then a couple feet away from the low docks were we would sit. And before I got into the goth scene I used to surf with my dad and we were always in Shark Prone areas, zero fear. Actual signs from Stinsons Beach which was my dad's fav place to go surfing. The fear is unfounded and they really are amazing creatures. Just be aware of them and know when not to go in the water and you'll be fine.

The issue is, the magazine sells. The younger hyper woke/super feminists crowd is in love with the direction the magazine has taken and they continue to praise MJ for it. Till the majority put their foot down and say enough is enough of this BS, it'll continue and it doesn't matter who's in charge, money talks bigger than the personal needs of the staff and Meredith Corporation. The same thing with VS. The minute people started screaming "we want to change, and more diverse body types" years ago.... you should have seen the slippery slope ahead but you didn't and you got what you asked for, but in the process, you opened Pandora's box. I get people were trying to be well-meaning about what they wanted changed and what they thought the outcome of that change would be like, but when change doesn't come organically and people try to force it quickly shit often gets scuffed in the process... Fast forward to now and we're upset, but we got exactly what we asked for (we as in a general statement, not pointing fingers at a single person)

Truth ^^ Tran has mentioned in the past that a lot of photographers are scared to even remotely put a hand on a girl to get her to move in a certain direction so they can achieve the best picture, and because of the zero contact rule the quality of pictures is in decline across the board. As a result certain photographers have started using 4000HD+ drones to get 360 degree images of models thus getting perfect angles every time and great pictures as a result (as long as the photographer knows how to edit his or her own pics). I personally know Tran uses drone the majority of time now. MJ's photographers need to get on it! Also someone teach Yu how to edit because hunny this isn't is.

Tran is........ KeKing right now at the issue. This is in reference to one of the models in the magazine this year who doesn't know how to model and will go out of her way to stay in the shade while shooting. Leaving out parts of the convo... But it summery. SI has to pay for the Photographers, and they have to pay a lot.... something they don't like or don't want to do, so they use newbies/lesser known photographers and friends like Yu/James/Ben who do it for cheap, or for free. The pictures are bad because either the photographers are bad, and or the editing makes the pictures bad or worse then they normally are without retouching, also bad models. Plus he feels the photographers aren't giving the models enough direction and are just paying it super safe. They don't find the "truth" in the models He knows what some of these models can do as he's worked with them and has never had pictures come out bad. He is not impressed with the models, most of which have made his dick fall off. He's not a fan of this "natural" thing they're doing. Jesus I wish I could show you some of his convo LOL

I don't believe they pay their photographers and if so they're stuck with newer people and photographers who are loyal to the brand like Ben, James, Yu. I just asked Tran what's up with the whole paying vs not paying thing and I'll let you know what he says

I have no idea what SI is doing to their models but they all look old, frumpy, and basic and without the right makeup some of these younger models are looking rough. I love Taylor Sharpe but her pictures are complete dog shit and when you compare them to her IG posts the SI pictures look even worse so thanks for that MJ :( Also why in the hell are they putting a yellow wash over some of the pictures? It makes the images look super dated, and lastly I'm not even going to touch the All Meat And No Potatoes thing so prevalent in 70% of the gals, or the fact that I'm struggling to determine who may or may not be biologically a woman. Worst issue to date: D- I fully expect a dude and a vertically challenged person next year.
