The 30-year-old model is also accused of receiving benefits, such as cars and apartments, and not reporting to the government. Bar‘s mother has also been arrested for the same crime. Bar and her mother reportedly made it appear as if she lived outside of Israel to pay less taxes. The statement also talks about many “celebrity discounts” she received and did not report. Bar and her mother had to surrender their passports and cannot leave Israel for 180 days unless given permission. According to reports, Bar and her mom were questioned for 12 hours on Wednesday (December 16), which lead to today’s arrest. “There is no drama. In the end, this is just a civil dispute,” Bar’s lawyer Giora Aderet told the NRG news website. “No one cheated anyone else. It will all clear up soon.” We’ve reached out to Bar‘s rep for a comment. Bar Refaeli has learned the hard way that you should always acknowledge the presents that you’re given, after being arrested by Israeli authorities on Thursday for not reporting things like, you know, free luxury accommodation and Range Rovers, among other legal conflicts. AFP reports that Bar and her mother, Zipora, were questioned and arrested for allegedly evading taxes on millions of dollars of income from abroad by lying about the model’s residency, as well as receiving presents and “celebrity discounts”, which went unreported. While Israeli citizens who aren’t residents are exempt from reporting income from abroad to tax authorities, it has been alleged that the top model and her mother fabricated a false appearance of Bar residing outside of Israel to avoid paying taxes. A Range Rover and Lexus, which Bar received in exchange for her taking pictures with the cars, also weren’t registered under Bar’s name and it is said that she lived in lavish apartments under her mother and brother’s names. The 30-year-old beauty has allegedly found loopholes in Israeli law before, after evading two years of mandatory military service by marrying her father’s friend, who she divorced a short while later.
