Her boyfriend was also a pro skater iirc.   This fellow is certainly richer..

Well yeah but the Logan clan also comes with a lot of nonsense and distractions.

Which is fine if you're say some IG girl. Less so if you are a world class athlete (who has won medals at World Championships and Olympics).

@Enrico_sw  lol critical drinker got an interview with Russel crowe!

That's awesome for the Drinker! He's really talented, it's great to see him getting to interview famous ppl.

He's written some books as well. I hear they're good, but I've never read one.

I don't follow these guys at all.  I guess they have pretty exciting lives so they attract the girls?

@SympathysSilhouette  have you read the Knight of the Seven kingdoms (hedge knight trilogy)?

I have started it.  I think it's better than Feast for Crows-dance of dragons but not as great as first 3 in ASOIAF.

It definitely makes sense to do a series on it, it's very do-able with strong actors to play dunk & egg.

I have not, I haven't read anything other than the first five books of the main series.

I should have read this earlier, it's clear to me now that this book heavily inspired the traveling duos in the show and some of the writing was repurposed for scenes in the show too.  It's a ronin/knight errant travels with child type story.  The audiobook of the 3 novellas is 11 1/2 hours long.

another cool bit is that the 7 feet tall knight Dunkin is Brienne of Tarth's ancestor and aspects of her story in the show (but not in the books) was taken from the Knight of the Seven Kingdoms trilogy.

14:00

Also an antagonist in novella 2, Sworn Sword is an ancestor of the Lannisters.

I'm almost done with A knight of the Seven Kingdoms.  Pretty good although it lacks a certain spark that ASOIAF has.  I would rate it a 4-4.5 out of 5.

Dunk & Egg are the most traditional of the Game of Thrones characters and imho GRRM could have kept them in the main series.  Dunk would have been a fan favorite, an alternative for Jon Snow but he would be too similar to Brienne of Tarth.

Overall the novellas are good quality, very well written but fairly conventional in storytelling/tropes, unlike ASOIAF.  Very competent but not that memorable.

I think the new HBO show only has 1 season's worth of material and the entire book will be covered.

Toni Garrn and Alex P divorced.

I still remember how he was with Marloes Horst for years.

Toni and Alex always seemed like a weird couple to me. And didn't they get married pretty quickly after starting to date?

Well Toni is taller than he is lol.

Yea, IIRC it was mainly because he got her pregnant.

Finished Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.   The 3rd Novella is the best one but all three are very competently paced and constructed, but not all that memorable.

This is another series that GRRM will probably never finish.  He actually has the planning/outline for 6 more novellas left..
