Being Miss Venezuela is what every little girl wants to be when she's big, people in this country take this way too seriously, we chose our Miss Venezuela with a year of anticipation (example, Irene Esser MV 2012 was chosen to represent the country in September 2011) so the MV organization has more than enough time to prepare the girl, it takes more than a pretty face: you need to know how to walk, how to do your hair/make up properly/learn how to speak without sounding like an idiot, get your surgery done, basically is like going to college for a year. They teach the girls how to make an good impression, to make those judges fall for them. Remember that the girls to a lot of work with the judges before the contest, they get to see the girls way before & way more than what we see on Tv.

I know, it's cheesy but down here Beauty Pageants are a huge deal.

yeah but just cuz your from Venezuela it doesn't mean you have to be in the top 16 every year if your ugly you don't have to make it but they always make it, well this year the girl is pretty, and she still fail with her answer with more than a year of preparation. that was just a waist of money trying to prepare Irene when she decide to answer her question in English instead of Spanish. if she couldn't speak proper English then you shouldn't risk it answering the question in English cuz then your answer is going to come out wrong, duh. I know she wanted to impress us that she could speak English, but she really doesn't, but at least she try her best, but really she is a lot prettier than USA.

if short models are allow to win Miss Universe then I could go for it, My face is prettier than USA, Phillippines, Brazil and Mexico. I am probably the same height as miss USA.

you could laugh all you want but is true. going back to topic do you guys think USA deserve the crown?

glad i missed this hog wash. what about the civil engineer...ugh a woman with a career!

Each year I am more convinced they should call this pageant "Miss World Plastic Surgery"

I have no clue how Miss USA won

:idk: Her dress was horrific, she almost tripped during the evening parade, and her answer to the final question was pretty lame. Trump totally rigged this one :nicole: Miss Philippines was robbed!!! (Y)

From foxnews.com:

Miss Venezuela gets 0 points for answer to Miss Universe question, and that may have been generous

Miss Venezuela Irene Sofia Esser Quintero was asked a very simple question on Wednesday night's Miss Universe telecast, and in her native Spanish no less. She chose to answer in English. And that may have been her big mistake.

Judge Diego Boneta asked: "If you could make a new law, what would it be?"

Quintero answered thusly: "I think that any leys there are in Constitution or in life, are already made. I think that we should have, uh, a straight way to go in our similar, or, eh, in our lives as is this. For example, I'm a surfer, and I think that the best wave that I can take is the wave that I wait for it. So please do our only, eh, law that we can do. Thank you Vegas!"

Even with this answer factoring into her total, however, Quintero came in third, beating out Miss Brazil and Miss Australia. Which means she may have won if her answer had been intelligible!

That is really fucking sad.

Many countries esp. those in South America like Brazil, Columbia and Venezuela prepare little girls in anticipation of becoming Miss Universe.

^ Yes seriously. Plastic surgery rate is on the rise in those countries partially for that reason. Other countries are starting to catch on so they are starting the trend as well.

Actually other than boob jobs women don't get too many surgeries here in Venezuela, we just like Beauty Pageants a lot & when you're growing up you watch the Miss Venezuela every year so when you're like 7 you just want to be one of those pretty ladies wearing a Crown & fancy dresses... Also most of the former Miss Venezuela are now actresses or they host Tv shows, so if you want to get in the business being a MV contestant is one of the best ways to do it

As for Irene, i feel really bad for her she completely fucked it up with her answer & I'm sure that if it wasn't for that she would've won ... Everyone in the country is making fun of her right now. But yeah, I still don't get what the hell was she trying to say

Not necessarily in Venezuela, but a lot of them do get more than just their boobs done and it is quite obvious. I guess Dayana is one of the "rare" Venezuelans that had more than just her boobs enlarged--not only is it obvious but she has also admitted it.

I seriously thought Irene was going to win (if not her, either Miss Philippines or Miss Australia) until her final question. I am not sure was there a lost in translation somewhere b/c her answer was so far from what the question was asking. However, at least she did not dodge the question like Miss USA. Sorry still don't get how she won. She must be banging Trump or something---not even trying to make fun of her

I think Dayana had he breast & nose done. The gilrs in the MV do get a lot of work done, specially after they win (between MV & Miss Universe or MV & Miss World) but your average venezuelan woman gets her boobs done & that's about it ... I can't say anything on the girls from other countries though, i have no idea
