Michael* Posted December 17, 2010 Posted December 17, 2010 Donbot, you've inspired me to name 20 instead of 10. This mightn't be definitive as I haven't yet made good on mental notes to check out Factory Floor, Deerhunter, Ariel Pink and These New Puritans. Haven't even heard Come Around Sundown yet, how weird is that? Anyway, away we go... 01. Beach House - Teen Dream I half-jokingly called this my album of 2010 way back in January and not only have I not heard anything that tops it, I'm still obsessed with it almost a full year later. I'd even go so far as to say that it's become an all-time favourite. 02. Warpaint - The Fool 03. Field Music - Field Music (Measure) 04. Laura Marling - I Speak Because I Can 05. MGMT - Congratulations 06. Dum Dum Girls - I Will Be 07. Arcade Fire - The Suburbs 08. Best Coast - Crazy For You 09. The Walkmen - Lisbon 10. Tame Impala - Innerspeaker 11. The Dead Weather - Sea Of Cowards 12. Sleigh Bells - Treats 13. The Black Keys - Brothers 14. Wavves - King Of The Beach 15. Spoon - Transference 16. Avi Buffalo - Self titled 17. School Of Seven Bells - Disconnect From Desire 18. Yeasayer - Odd Blood 19. Vampire Weekend - Contra 20. Crystal Castles - Crystal Castles II Quote
donbot Posted December 18, 2010 Author Posted December 18, 2010 ^Never really hit it off with Kings of Leon. I've heard bits and pieces of their latest.. seems the standard fare, but no idea how it rates in the context of their back catalogue Cool list though, I'll have to check out some of those I haven't heard. Especially Warpaint, whom I've heard many a good things about but haven't delved into yet (Y) It's also awesome that Tame Impala have gotten some international recognition. It always warms the cockles of my heart when that happens with a band from my little corner of the world They're still so young too.. it'll be interesting to see how their music evolves over the years. Their album was certainly one of the most unique and standout sounds of this year. Quote

red_ed Posted December 22, 2010 Posted December 22, 2010 I don't know why, but since I started work I haven't been able to fully appreciate the albums I listen to. I think the backlash against KOL has gone too far but I'd be lying if I said my interest in them hadn't waned somewhat over the past year or so. Neither "Pyro" nor "Radioactive" hit the spot for me, so I've been a little hesitant in checking out CAS. I'd highly recommend the first three albums though. The fourth suffers from having too much samey, mid-paced stuff towards the end, but "Closer" and "Crawl" are well worth a listen too. Quote

donbot Posted December 23, 2010 Author Posted December 23, 2010 No Washington love, red_ed? Good album but it didn't have much repeat value for me Loved the Sunday Best video clip though Ah I see. I listened to it a ridiculous number of times I love that video too. The Hardest Part has a really good one as well Meanwhile, what the fuck is going on in this one? Quote
Michael* Posted December 24, 2010 Posted December 24, 2010 Meanwhile, what the fuck is going on in this one? I believe there's a video for every song on "Teen Dream" and although that's the strangest one, it has to be said that they're all pretty random. Quote
