April 6, 201312 yr Two things: I never quite realized how melancholic and even somewhat sad the melody to this song is until I heard this version. Also, the lyrics get a totally different meaning within the context of the game: I come home in the morning light, My mother says "When you gonna live your life right?" Oh,mother, dear, We're not the fortunate ones, And girls, They wanna have fu-un. Oh,girls, Just wanna have fun. The phone rings in the middle of the night, My father yells "What you gonna do with your life?" Oh,daddy, dear, You know you're still number one, But girls, They wanna have fu-un, Oh,girls, just wanna have That's all they really want..... Some fun.... When the working day is done, Oh,girls, They wanna have fu-un, Oh,girls, Just wanna have fun.... Girls, They want, Wanna have fun. Girls, Wanna have Some boys take a beautiful girl, And hide her away from the rest of the world. I wanna be the one to walk in the sun. Oh,girls, They wanna have fu-un. Oh,girls, Just wanna have That's all they really want..... Some fun....
April 7, 201312 yr Author Indeed! Which makes me wonder: is Bioshock Infinite the best scripted video game ever? I certainly can't think of any better ones...
April 7, 201312 yr Indeed! Which makes me wonder: is Bioshock Infinite the best scripted video game ever? I certainly can't think of any better ones... It's certainly up there, along with the first couple of Bioshocks. Some others I'd consider would be Mass Effect (whole trilogy), Alan Wake, Grim Fandango, I'm sure there's more.. Alan Wake is another that holds up well to scrutiny, has a very solid structure and even manages to squeeze in some comic relief (his agent!). Good call.
April 7, 201312 yr Just realized another quip. Near the beginning of the game, when Booker drinks the first vigor, he says "well, you only live once". Rather ironic considering it was his 123rd attempt at rescuing Elizabeth.
April 8, 201312 yr I've had my personal assistant* clear my schedule and hope to dive into it tonight. Can't wait. *Only joking... ...it was my butler.
April 9, 201312 yr Have fun! I haven't even made it to Monument Island yet, but I'm already loving it. The first glimpse of Columbia's streets was absolutely awe-inspiring.
April 12, 201312 yr This is my favorite scene in bioshock. There are definitely some 1950s cultural influences behind its construction. The juxtaposition of the ambition and tragedy of Rapture is rather poignant, and it builds up to an apex at this very moment. Cohen's madness also resembles his own way of coping with total loss.... Also, he's based on Salvador Dali! "....if you had become my one and true disciple, you may have been worthy of looking inside of the box as my most private muse. But who knows if that man is yet even born?...." -----
November 15, 201311 yr Author Anyone played the Burial At Sea: Episode One DLC? Launch trailer: I really enjoyed it for the most part, although I must say bringing together the two worlds felt a little forced at times.. plus it was unfortunately marred by bugs. Still, it was pretty fantastic being back in Rapture, especially to get a glimpse of it in its heyday. The ending was great too - can't wait for episode two, where apparently Elizabeth will be the protagonist
November 15, 201311 yr Author Plus some screenshots I took :Dinah: (not really spoilers, but I'll post them here just in case)
January 19, 201411 yr The game is truly a mind fuck but I enjoyed it thoroughly! I can't wait for more of the Burial at Sea DLC!
February 6, 201411 yr Author 25th March :Dinah: “In Burial at Sea – Episode Two, we are delivering a story that involves nearly every major character from the original BioShock and BioShock Infinite,” sayeth Ken Levine in a press release. “It is a story that will give gamers a new perspective on the BioShock universe and conclude the story of BioShock Infinite and Burial at Sea.” Irrational say that the episode will be built "almost entirely" from scratch, suggesting we'll get to see more new perspectives on Rapture. This time around, we'll be controlling Elizabeth, and Irrational are promising the introduction of new weapons and "stealth-oriented gameplay".
February 18, 201411 yr Irrational Games is down-sizing, big time. http://irrationalgames.com/studio/ I guess that is it for Ken Levine authored Bioshock games. The series remains a 2K property.
February 18, 201411 yr Sad news. I enjoyed all 3 games, though #1 was the only one I really really loved. #1 is in my top ten all time.
