For sure. Twitter feels like the wild wild west right now. Both sides are making posts like this, btw which are breaking the Twitter guidelines but seems like nobody cares anymore? :Amelie_wft:

I haven't watched the new season yet but I saw the scene where Halbrand changes into Annatar. I also saw the Sauron as venom thing- I definitely was not expecting to see anything like that- in my mind Sauron was more like a spirit entity rather than a physical substance.

The scene with Sauron and the heavens is pretty interesting to me- on closer inspection Annatar is almost like a holy Christ-like figure to Celebrimbor, the whole scene has a biblical aura to it. Also besides the makeover Annatar is shrouded in darkness while beneath the heavens, indicating who he really is.

Interestingly, Charlie's test for the Sauron role was him reciting Satan from Paradise Lost & Richard III. Literally I talked about Paradise lost earlier so I suppose the showrunners (as well as Tolkein) were influenced by it.

Haha I didn't thought about a Venom comparison but you're right.

I think in season 1 they even talked about Sauron being spiritual in his "natural form" but since you can't see a spirit let alone a spirit with no human shell I think they choosed this dark slimy mass primarily to show Sauron's story/journey somehow in pictures. It's a tv show afterall living from visuals.

I mean Sauron clearly sees himself as some sort of holy shiny bright saviour -implemented in the Annatar scene- but if we try to imagine something pure evil without any appealing form it's probably more like this black ugly repulsive mass!? "Guttering fetus" is one of the descriptions I read lol

I was like eeew when I saw it 🫣

I also think these two wizards are really funny. The casting of Sauron is topnotch. I knew who he was supposed to be the moment I saw him.

Overall too less Sauron but the one glimpse we got was at least a great hair moment 😜 Poor Galadriel still haunted by his "fair" face LOL
