I am a bit hyped up for the LOTR trailer (airing tomorrow), mainly out of curiosity rather than hope

Here's a high profile "intellectual" working on the "the links between the oppression of women and that of non-human animals"

What a genius. :rofl::rofl::rofl:

A REAL strong woman.

This looks like a film that could showcase whether or not she can act : p

I have zero hope for Jeff Bezos' LOTR.

I think the show will star Galadriel (given the preview pictures and her role in the book).  M-Clark is reputably a very good actress.  The only encouraging sign while the rest are unknown unknowns..

Cate Blanchett was awesome as Galadriel. I don't know this new actress, but I don't trust anything that comes out of Bezos...:laugh:

Have you seen this scene?  It was deleted in the theatrical cut but it is literally one of the most interesting and nuanced scenes in the film.  From reading the Simarillion I found out that the Galadriel in the Lord of the Rings is actually "Old lady Galadriel"-  retreating to the West in retirement and at the end of a huge character arc.

In the upcoming show it is a different character, the "Young" and warlike version.  I think she is more like a Queen Elizabeth type figure though rather than a warrior queen.

I don't remember this scene, but I last saw the movies a while ago. It's an interesting scene indeed.

My favorite elven woman was Arwen (half-elven). I remember when I first saw the movies. Liv Tyler was one of my favorite actresses when I was a kid. She was so feminine and I like her eyes (and the blue-eyed brunette style). I thought she was the embodiment of femininity. Unfortunately, she didn't have such a big career.

I tried a vegan steak tonight, out of curiosity, just to know how it tastes (there are more and more of this stuff in our supermarkets).

Well it tastes terrible, really a weird and artificial taste. I won't try another one.... (and it's expensive too) :ninja:

 I think Liv Tyler did some movies and then transitioned to TV, I don't know anything about her.

But certainly when I saw LOTR in the theater (with my mom) she was stunning.  And still is probably the best looking elf I've ever seen in film/tv, so far at least. I really like this sequence in fellowship,  even though her role was overstated for the film, TBH I could watch a fantasy film where she co-starred.  I actually would have liked to see even more of her.

She has a really deep voice too!
