I would make a bad con-artist. One of the ways they work is to never admit you are wrong.

You and me both.

My parents said I had too much of a guilty conscience to be one. I have no poker face!

I believe space exploration is important for human advancement, in the same way that exploration has always been important throughout human history.

👍🏻👊🏻😃 I can agree with this.

(and I have not mastered the multi quote posts yet.)

So do I. That's also why I like astronomy, astrophysics and... space operas (like Star Trek, Star Wars, The Expanse or The Orville).

👊🏻👍🏻😃 I’m a sci fi fanatic as well.

The media sucks in this country and probably worldwide. :war:

So the preliminary results show that he didn't die from strangulation, or asphyxiation. Interesting.

So resisting the cops, potential dope dropping, and trying to pass a counterfeit bill. The girl in the car tried the bill first, failed and then he tried it in the same store? LOL Smarted.  The cops were also following  protocol as per three on him, and if the autopsy shows that he didn't die as a result of the cops ..... all of this was for nothing. Will any of this be reported fairly? Nope, because it doesn't fit the agenda.

Pro Tip: Don't resist the police, be calm, and do as you are asked.

The media are getting trashier every day. It's a vicious circle: their incompetence generates disaffection which makes them trashier in order to get people back... Clickbait is what the media look for, and, what's more clickbait than hatred and division? They are golden opportunities for these scavengers. :yucky:

Local newspapers are the only ones that are still holding up somehow.

They're mostly behind the divide in this country and others.

It’s because everyone (most anyway)  loves to see a good wreck, and the only thing that spreads quickly are rumors and gossip.

I remember when the sensational gossip magazines would advertise on TV, now it moved into the internet as click bait.

Yes and they really take readers for fools with some of their clickbaits, like when their link says "Hubble, it exploded" and the real article is "Hubble budget exploded"....

There are a couple of websites that I "relatively" trust, but only for a couple of minutes per day (like when I wake up in the morning).

You might be denying Russia (Putin) some of the credit they deserve. Their bots are a significant source of false information online which helps create and sustain the divide. Putin's KGB training in practice.

I don't really like the styling of the astronaut gear I saw today.  Too much like a Halloween costume

I miss the old popular interest in space pre-9-11  - much more healthy than obsessing over terrorists and economic problems

The old gear was more Sci-fi ish

Elon Musk's team worked with Hollywood to design the spacesuit. It's actually a pretty good suit, it's the color that makes it ugly. Former suits were orange, which is a very visible color that you can easily spot, when for example an astronaut is lost in the ocean.

Gagarin's SK-1 spacesuit was nice. This guy had balls. He went to space at a time when nobody knew what it was, many thought that he was gonna die.

It's mostly a chimera. I remember when the Last Jedi came out, people said that anyone who disliked the movie was a Russian bot. Then a guy made a study, I read it and it was a big joke with many methodological bias. If it were physics, a paper as weak as this one would've never been through the reviews.

Social sciences are plagued with bias like this (and the media feed on them). The grievance studies affair showed how big the bias is:

@Matt! I fortuitously discovered this Swedish guy on the Internet. It's not groundbreaking, but I like it.

Then I got a link to another Swedish bloke, same type of music. It's quite good for what I'm doing right now.:bounce:

Punctuation is the biggest victim of social media... I understand Twitter restricts the number of signs, but punctuation was invented for a reason!

I was already hopeless for the poor semicolon (first victim of this tragedy - nobody seems to know about it, and if you try to use it, people think it's a smiley :ermm:), but then the comma was put into a coma (ahem, I had to make it ) and now the dot...................................

Russia is a paper tiger, it's the Chinese bots that deserve the credit.
