All of these aspects have underlying biological truths: male gametes can be produced in millions every day, while ovules are rare (produced roughly once a month).  The fertility period for men is nearly all life, while women's fertility has a peak decreases over time.

 

But there's another biological impact IMHO: in harsh environments where births are needed, societies manage to quickly lower the barriers and promote relationships, while opulent environments tend to intuitively infringe relationships (to lower birthrates).

 

But, I dunno, that's just a theory

Dating website analytics and common sense tends to show that women have much higher standards for men than vice-versa.  (male standards for women)

 

The most easy place for men are Muslim cultures LOL.

I've always had high standards for women (and the girls I dated always found that weird about me, even though it should be quite flattering for them, I guess...)

 

I never liked watching men who immediately simp for women even when they are obviously toxic, average-looking or uninteresting girls.

In a perfect world, women would fall in love with men that they're great friends with and could live with successfully.  In reality this friendship is only a subsidiary to attraction, which is not really based on wisdom but more on 'attractive behavior' that can come with a lot of drawbacks for the person doing this behavior.
