A Spider's Egg Sac Can Be Filled with 1,500 Baby Spiders

image.jpeg

On average, the gestation period for a spider ranges from one week to one month. An average egg sac can carry as many as 1,500 offspring, too. Beyond boggling your mind with the fact that there’s about a dozen spiders born every minute, this incredibly quick gestation period allows spiders to rapidly develop immunities to even the most deadly of poisons and insecticides. :Angel:

WHAT HAVE I DONE TO DESERVE THIS CRUELTY???

Oh and btw... how's the dragon? What was his name...? Aaaah! Billy!   :whistle:

He must surely be enjoying a beer, I suppose, since I doubt wine could be good for him :Angel:

Are spiders “boring” pets? Seems like you’d get more interaction with a snake and get to see them move around in their enclosure.

So I'm taking a look at the article I saw earlier and it mentions precisely this :blah:

A recent entomological survey of North Carolina homes turned up spiders in 100 percent of them

according to Nyffler and Birkhofer.

And they're the authors of the study the article mentions :blah:

Or, for a slightly more disturbing comparison: The total biomass of all adult humans on Earth is estimated to be 287 million tons. Even if you tack on another 70 million-ish tons to account for the weight of kids, it’s still not equal to the total amount of food eaten by spiders in a given year, exceeding the total weight of humanity.

The article also mentions exactly this...

:blah:

And one more piece of data I'm not posting :blah:

You actually looked for the study to torture me. The cruelty is REAL.

@Stormbringer

Spiders are covered in water-repellent hairs, which trap a thin layer of air around the body so they can’t get wet. It also means they always float and some can survive under water for hours. That’s how they climb back up the drain.

Remember this each time you flush a spider or wash it down your shower drain... :angel:

I make sure I crush them before flushing them or washing them down the drain :blah:
